Norcross, Georgia is a small town located in north-central Georgia. The population was 7,814 at the 2010 census and has grown to 11,651 in 2016. The Norcross community is home to a variety of businesses and organizations that contribute to its economy. Some of these include the Norcross Volunteer Fire Department, the Norcross School District, and the Norcross Lions Club. Norcross began as a tiny log cabin on the edge of a creek. It grew rapidly during the early 1800s when settlers arrived in what is now northern Georgia. By 1820, there were more than fifty residents living in what is now Norcross Township. Many of these pioneers were farmers who planted corn, wheat, cotton, potatoes and other crops near their homes. The first post office was established in 1826 and operated for six years. In 1829 an additional post office was built south of present day Norcross on Weldon Road (later renamed Old US 13). By 1850 there were over one hundred residents living in Norross Township. During the Civil War (1861- 1865), many local men enlisted in Confederate armies as soldiers or volunteers. Most notably, John Herrington served as captain of Company D1st Georgia Infantry from 1861- 1863; He also helped run supplies for General Robert E Lee's army during that time period. In 1865 after the war ended most of Atlanta moved westward while much Greater Atlanta remained slave-based until well into the 21st century%. However some African Americans such as John Herrington had achieved some level of success during Reconstruction and became landowners along with other white citizens within their new communities Psychiatric Hospital which later became known by its current name MCGILL University Hospital opened its doors on November 1st 1912 giving rise to much speculation about possible links between this hospital/university & organized crime groups however no definitive evidence exists demonstrating any wrongdoing by McGill University Hospitals staff or patients& subsequent investigations revealed no evidence whatsoever linkingMCGILL University Hospital staff members with criminal activities

Norcross is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Norcross was incorporated as a city on December 12, 1907. In 1960 it became a county seat and remains so today. The community lies within the boundaries of what is now Fulton County but Norcross has always been its own municipality with its own government and school district. The first settlers in what would become Norcross were German immigrants who arrived between 1836 and 1840 from Württemberg, Germany. They built homes near present day Norcross on land that had been donated to them by General James Longstreet during the American Revolution. Other early settlers included three brothers who founded an inn called The Hermitage on Christmas Day 1847: John (Johannes) Fenton, Nicholas Fenton, and Benjamin Fenton; their father also served as innkeeper for many years later in Norross." In 1907, when Addie Ware moved to the area from Decatur County after her husband's death and purchased property along Piedmont Avenue near present day Dillard Road/McDonald Drive in northwest Atlanta she began to build a sawmillinery business which she named "Addie Ware Mill". She soon married postmaster Charles Huggins who also owned land adjacent to her mill site where he constructed a gristmill and other mills over time until his death in 1916. Their daughter Cora Huggins subsequently took over the milling operations until her mother's retirement in 1972 when Cora became sole owner of the mill which still operates today under new management." 1) Addie Ware Mill Site - This long tract of mostly level ground bordered by neighborhoods then rural farmland eventually housed Addie Ware's Sawmillinery business starting out as small sheds or tents scattered around an area bounded by Piedmont Avenue NW & McDonald Dr., Duluth Rd./Dillard Rd., NE & I-285 southbound (now Dorchester Ave.), Cook Rd./Fulton St., SW corner of NE corner of SW corner of SE corner lot currently occupied by home development - all demolished except for foundations remnant remaining today thanks to donations made public record following closure of mill circa 1990s 2) Charles Huggins Gristmill Site - Located just east side of Addie Ware Mill Site on large pieceida lot leased from Mr Ladd Tradesmen’s Club 4 buildings Deep Creek meadow adjacent lots Owned By Mrs Huggins From 1915 Until Her Death In 2016 3) Deep Creek Meadow - A large open space located just northeast side Ofaddie ware mill site across creek from Ms Huggins' gristmill 4 buildings
Norcross, Georgia was founded in 1823 and named for General John Norcross. It became a town in 1854 and a city in 1912. In 1965, it merged with Milledgeville to form the city of Milledgeville-Norcross.
