Some of the most famous T-shirts related to firearms include: “With Weapons or Without them?” by Dick Tracy; “Machine Guns & Personals” by Tom Clancy; and “The Terminator Salvation T-Shirts” by Chuck Norris. Some of the earliest t-shirts featuring firearms were printed for the Teddy Bears Club in 1922. The club was started by two brothers named Johnnie and Edward Bear, who wanted to raise money for charity. They made dolls that could fire guns, and gave them away as toys. One of the first modded bearguns was created by Johnnie Bear at his house in 1922. In 1935, Hallyday published an article called “Les armes et les gens” (Arms and People), which discussed gun ownership among French people. The article featured photos of individuals with handguns on their hipstrings, alongside illustrations of rifles, shotguns, pistols, grenades, tanks and other weapons. Many French people at that time were interested in Firearms because they felt they had to protect themselves from possible threats around town or during wartime. In 1937, shirt designer Charles Simic designed a shirt called “Chauffeur de voiture à la main” (Driver With Gun). This shirt depicted a driver with a handgun slung over his shoulder while he chauffeurs passengers in his car. The shirt became very popular due to its realistic depiction of firearm handling. In 1940, Simic designed anothershirt called “Le revolver dans l'escalier” (Rifle In The Elevator). This shirt depicted a gunman firing his weapon from an elevator into the next floor below him while people wait inside the elevator! It quickly became one of Simic's most popular designs!
