The first firearms in Moultrie were pistols and rifles. In 1839, Captain John W. Fenton established a store on the corner of High and Broad Streets. The store was known as the "Fenton's Store." Captain Fenton sold handguns, shotguns, rifle cartridges, and other firearms to customers in the area. He also leased land from James Davenport for a rifle range and pistol factory. In 1843, David Coker opened a mercantile business on High Street. From this business, he began selling ammunition and other fire arms to locals. He also built a large stockroom in his business to accommodate his new customers. In 1847, Gentry & Reeves opened a hardware store on Middle Street near the courthouse. This store was known as Gentry's Hardware until it closed in 1865. In 1886, Hogg & Cook opened an office at 4th Street and Main Avenue which became their home until 1924 when they moved to 403 Peachtree Road in Moultrie proper
Moultrie, Georgia is a small town in the U.S. state of Georgia. The population was 1,567 at the 2010 census and 2,440 at the 2016 census. It is the county seat of Fulton County. The name "Moultrie" comes from General James Moultrie's victory over Native American forces during the American Revolutionary War. Moultrie has a rich history dating back to 1793 when General James Moultrie led an expedition against Native Americans in what is now known as the Battle of Cowpens Swamp. After that battle, General Moultrie founded Cowpens Plantation on what is now town square and erected his headquarters there. In 1815, he married Martha Custis Washington and moved his family to Richmond County where they would live until their death in 1828. In 1861, while Confederate troops were invading Union territory through Fulton County, General Robert Ewell ordered his cavalry to cross over into Union territory and attack local stores and homes near Decaturville (now part of Atlanta). After achieving victory over Union forces at the Battle of Peachtree Creek, Ewell returned south to threaten Moultrie but failed due to lack of horses and artillery support from within Union territory- something that would become common during the Civil War era despite efforts by both sides to suppress it. After Reconstruction followed Reconstruction Times ended with passage of The Fourteenth Amendment which granted African Americans full citizenship in America as well as voting rights nationally- things that had been slowly gained for white citizens since Reconstruction began two years earlier following President Abraham Lincoln's inauguration on January 20th, 1865A few months later on April 14th 1865 Confederate Major General Jubal Early attacked Fort Sumter located just outside Savannah after learning that Ulysses S Grant was planning to move against Mobile Bay- an event which became known as Mayflower DayA few weeks later on October 13th 1865 five days after Averell Harriman arrived in Savannah with plans for a peace conference convened by Secretary Edwin Stanton gravitational pull pulled all three branches of government towards each other instead resulting in Lincoln's assassination Averell Harriman decided not pursue peace negotiations due to this event leading too many contradictions

It was also the home of General Andrew Johnson during his presidency. Moultrie is a small town with a population of around 3,000 people. The primary industry in Moultrie is agriculture; there are several farms in the town that produce crops such as corn, soybeans, cotton, and hay. There are also a few businesses in Moultrie that provide services such asumbing and heating services. The history of Moultrie began with its establishment as a farming community. In 1819, General John Moultrie founded the town here to provide support for the war effort against Spain. The town grew rapidly due to this support and by 1830 it had over 1,100 residents. In 1835, General Andrew Johnson moved into Moultie from Greenville because he felt it would be more secure to live outside of Mobile Bayou (the Alabama River). After becoming president at age 33 in 1865, Johnson enlarged and renovated many of the buildings within Moultie which helped make it one of his most successful towns during his time as president. Today, much of what makes up downtown Moltiere has been preserved or restored thanks to efforts by local organizations such as the Municipal Arts District Committee and Cobb Preservation Trustee’s Office. Additionally, an art museum called Southern Gallery has been built next door to City Hall on First Street which offers exhibits about local history while providing education about art appreciation from across America overall.
