In 1968, Winchester absorbed all of Savage’s assets forming what is now known as Henry Repeating Arms Company LLC (HRA). When that county was divided into two parts in 1923, Milton became an independent municipality and retained its town status until it merged with Atlanta's public schools system in 2000. Milton’s downtown core grew rapidly during the late 19th century as businesses such as banks and hotels opened up and people started moving into the town from surrounding counties for work or education opportunities. By 1920 there were over 100 homes in downtown Milton and more than 50 businesses had been built along Third Street since 1892 when local merchants formed an organization known as “The Merchants Association of Fulton County” to promote trade within their communities while also providing social services such as libraries andateur theaters. Businesses like The Masonic Lodge (1892), The grocery store (1912), The post office (1920), Atlantan Baptist Church (1899) continue to thrive today thanks to their focus on community service combined with healthy eating habits! During World War II many families turned out to help get food for troops overseas while others worked together to build support infrastructure including housing projects and warehouses which helped bring much-needed jobs back home after war ended. After the war many farmers sold their land around Milton so that they could start anew in another section of Cobb County but some Amazingly still live here today working on their farmsteads!

Milton is a small town in southwestern Georgia, located on the Flint River. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. Milton was named for John Milton, an English philosopher and mathematician who wrote a treatise on political thought. Milton began as a Methodist Episcopal church in 1827. It became a Baptist church in 1868. In 1907 it merged with nearby Dacula to form the present-day Milton community. The town post office was established in 1828 and continued operation until 1959. The first school in Milton was built in 1829 by Wm. Halsey and his wife Jane Cady Halsey, both of whom had come from Illinois to teach at Gainesville College (now University of Georgia). The first students were students of Mrs. Halsey’s daughter Sarah Moody who taught second grade before she moved away to become principal of one of Athens’ public schools. For many years there were two teachers for every student in grades one through seven; however, this changed when Mrs. Moody retired and Drayton Heyward took over as teacher forgrades eight through twelve which he did until his death in 1923; after which Mrsillington Heyward’s class filled up with her granddaughters Sarah Moody Weatherford Junior (1924-2007) and Deborah Letcher Moody (born 1951). In 1840 Mr Barton founded the Milton cotton gin which still operates today as part of the city government complex that includes several buildings including the old courthouse and jail from the early 1800s that are now used as apartments or office space Maintained by Public Works Department From its establishment until about 1920 private individuals owned most land within walking distance of homes Some large plantations also stood within easy access during this time period like White Sulphur Springs plantation near where current day Interstate 85 meets Highway Trust Avenue
