However, because of its strategic location within Tennessee’s protective boundaries – especially during times of war – Milton remained an important cultural and political center for many years afterwards. Milton also experienced significant economic development during its post-war years thanks to two major industry expansions: oil production in 1947 and agricultural processing in 1958. These expansions led to increased job opportunities for locals and helped revive downtown business activity which continued until at least 2000 when local manufacturing went out of favor overall with large office parks taking over downtown space instead. Today, however, Milton remains an active community with thriving restaurant and nightlife options as well as high levels of education achievement among its citizens - making it one of the most highly educated cities in southeastern Alabama!
