Today, manual powered handguns still account for a significant minority of all handgun sales in America, while automated pistols have become almost exclusively associated with law enforcement and security purposes. Milton is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia. The population was 1,527 at the 2000 census. Milton is located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River and has a humid subtropical climate. The median household income was $35,545 in 2000 and it had a population density of 596 people per square mile. Milton is named after John Milton, an English philosopher who wrote "Paradise Lost". In 1822, John Quincy Adams appointed Calvin Coolidge as the first U.S. Ambassador to Russia and he visited Milton while there to thank them for their support of the United States during the Crimean War. In 1867, General James Aiken arrived in Milton with his forces to take control of Mobile Bay from Spain following its purchase from France; he was met at the train station by Mayor Proctor who welcomed him with open arms. In 1902, Milton became one of only two towns in Fulton County (the other being Decatur) to annex into Atlanta proper; it remains an enclave today within that city limits. As a result of this annexation, much development occurred in downtown Milton although little happened outside its boundaries until after World War II when new subdivisions were developed around what are now University Drive and Piedmont Road east of Interstate 95/I-285 north of downtown Athens

Milton was founded in 1817 by the brothers Solomon and Amos Key. The brothers were farmers who decided to move to a new location because of the rich soil and natural resources. The town was named for John Milton, an early settler. After a few years, the Key brothers relocated again, this time to Athens, Alabama. There they started a mercantile business and created a community where they could live free from slavery. In 1835, the Key family moved once again, this time to Milledgeville. They continued to operate their mercantile business until 1861 when it burned down due to an electrical fire. Milton then became known as Athens Junction because of its location on Interstate 85 just east of Atlanta. From 1861-1867, Milton served as the capital of Georgia during the Battle of Atlanta. During that time, it was also home to Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest’s headquarters. In 1865, after the war ended, Milton reverted back to its original name of Athens Junction and slowly faded away over the next few decades until it was finally abandoned in 1984 following a fire that destroyed most of the town’s infrastructure
Milton was a small, but influential community in the counties of DeKalb and Fulton. The town was founded in 1811 by John Milton, an entrepreneur and political leader who became one of the first African Americans to own land in Georgia. The community prospered until the Civil War, when it declined rapidly due to abolitionist campaigns. In 1865, Milton merged with other small villages in DeKalb County to form what is now known as Atlanta.
