As more people turned to home cooked meals instead of working outside during these tough times, they lost interest in purchasing ready made lubricants (Foley 1983). By 1970, only a few small companies remained manufacturing Gun Oil products in Georgia. Most of these companies were defunct by 1980 due to changing consumer tastes (Walsh 1980a; Walsh 1980b; Walsh 1980c). At this time there was no known manufacturer who still produced Gun Oils nationally except for one company who production limited quantities of a particular product called WD-20 which was produced by Dow Corning Corporation between 1960 and 1978 (Morrow 1984d; Pryor 1986a; Pryor 1986b; Morrow 1988a; Morrow 1988b) . Milledgeville is a small town in south Georgia, United States, located on the Chattahoochee River. The population was 2,980 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Milledgeville is known for its peach orchards and cotton fields. Milledgeville was founded in 1819 by General James A. Milligan and his family. The first post office was established in 1824 and the name changed to Milledgeville in 1828 after James A.'s father-in-law, Rev. Drury McKnight Milligan, who had also founded nearby Decatur. In 1851, General Nathan Bedford Forrest moved from Chattanooga to establish himself in this area and began to develop land here for plantations and other related activities such as gold mining operations that would later become fixtures of his life. In 1865, General Forrest named this area Millaisborough after Confederate Major General John Batory Millette (1821-1871), one of his subordinates during the American Civil War who had served under him at Gaines' Mills near Chattanooga before being transferred to Fort Donelson where he played an important role leading military campaigns against Sherman's Army at Missionary Ridge and Lookout Mountain outside Atlanta on October 15–20, 1865 interventions which ended with a major Union victory at Second Battle of Bull Run on November 11th that effectively ended Sherman's invasion of Georgia/Alabama/ Florida). Milledgeville, Georgia is a small town in central Georgia that dates back to the 1820s. Milledgeville was once the seat of government for both DeKalb County and Fulton County. Today, it remains a small town with a population of around 10,000 people. The history of Milledgeville began with the construction of the Augusta Railroad in 1826. After several years of operations, the railroad was receivership and ceased operations in 1830. However, it did not go away; rather, it became part of the new Atlanta Railway Company and continued to serve as an important transportation artery until 1885. The first settler in Milledgeville was John Smyth who arrived in 1824. Smyth founded what would become known as Smythtown on land that he purchased from Captain James Cooksborough for $1 per acre. In 1829, Smyth moved his family from Savannah to Milledgeville and started a grocery store which would continue to operate until 1907 when it merged with another grocery store owned by JT Wills into one structure known today as Will's Grocery Store Limited Partnership (WGSLP). While numerous other businesses were established throughout its early years including churches (First Baptist Church built in 1830), grain elevators (1830-1831), post office (1832), hotel (1835) and cotton gin (1836), there is little documentary evidence remaining regarding these establishments extant today save for some photos and plans preserved at the Georgia Historical Society located within walking distance of downtown Milledgeville. In 1840, three brothers named Abel Dwiggins, John Dwiggins and Daniel Dwiggins bought out John Smyths grocery store holdings resulting in what would later be called Abel & Bros., Incorporated business enterprise which operated until 1865 when they sold their interests to Hosea Witherspoon & Sons who still operate today under this name although now headquartered outside Atlanta area having relocated there following World War II primarily due to wartime regulations limiting private ownership of property within city limits however their original location within walking distance providing easy access by car or public transportation remain unchanged since then; Hosea Witherspoon & Sons also maintain a physical presence within downtown MilledgeVILLE through their own incorporated business entity known as The Business District Development Corporation though no longer active vendors/retailers) In 1846 Douglass Dillard became involved with local politics when he joined forces with William Worth Tomlinson Sr., grandson of General William Worth Tomlinson to run for sheriff against incumbent Thomas Troup Jr.. Dillard won handily but died soon after during campaign trail visit while on horseback before being able to take office due largely to support he received from Worth TOMLINSON himself making him effectively Tennessee’s second African American governor-elect ever!
