The museum, known as the Georgia Airgun Museum, has an extensive collection of airguns from all over the state. The history of airguns in Mcdonough began with a group of gentlemen who met at a shooting party in 1892. They formed the Georgia Airgun Club and began to promote gun-shooting in the region. In 1907, they organized their first meeting at which they decided to name their club after General George Custer. In 1915, they formed another club called the Georgian Rifle Association (GRA). This club helped spread gun-shooting throughout Georgia and also developed a statewide firearms education program. The GRA also donated handguns to local police departments in order to help increase law enforcement efficiency. In 1929, General Electric purchased controlling interest in the Georgia Airgun Club and changed its name to Eastern Gun Clubs Incorporated (EGC). EGC continued its role as a publisher of airgun magazines and helped build up the Georgians’airguns collection from scratch. In 1938, EGC merged with Western Gun Clubs Incorporated (WGC) to form American Armory Corporation (AAC). AAC developed various firearm products including shotguns and rifles under two brands: Remington Arms Company and Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The company was finally dissolved by court order on December 12th, 1994 due to financial instability caused by acquisitions made during its lifetime!

Mcdonough, Georgia is a small town in the state of Georgia. It is located in Walton County and has a population of just over 4,000 people. The name Mcdonough comes from the Cherokee word “mac-a-doh” meaning “place where corn grows.” The first settler in what is now Mcdonough was James Aiken who founded the town in 1828. Aiken was followed by his son John Aiken who built the first school and store in 1829. In 1839, General Nathan Bedford Forrest attacked and burned down Aiken's home, killing all but one of his children. After this attack, John Aiken moved his family to nearby Milledgeville and started trading goods with Indian tribes. However, due to economic conditions at the time, many farmers abandoned their land around Mcdonough which led to its decline as a commercial center over time. In 1865, Cotton Gin Company owner Andrew Johnson decided to move his business from New Orleans to Atlanta because of its growing cotton industry. He purchased 3 acres near present day downtown McDonough for $10 per acre and began building the gin on it. By 1870, the cotton gin had become America's largest textile mill when it opened its doors for business. The mill produced everything from apparel to cigars; however, it also produced some very dangerous chemicals that caused health problems for workers and residents alike throughout Atlantica during the late 1800s and early 1900s (see sidebar below). In 1915-16 while serving as Mayor of Atlanta through World War I Lt Colonel George Patton visited Cobb County after being recommended by General Douglas MacArthur (US Army) as someone who could provide leadership qualities during wartime (Patton would later be awarded command of Third Army during World War II). Patton found Maconugh struggling economically due to high taxes levied against farmers by city government officials seeking revenue via eminent domain (force takeovers). As he toured Maconugh's village he observed how "the women were wailing all night long about no new houses being built", referring back to an earlier campaign promise he had made while running for office two years earlier: "I will build more homes than any man ever has built before" After touring Cobb County Patton met with Governor Ernest Bakerman who impressed him with how well things were going there despite high taxes burdensome for average citizens like himself: "He told me that you have been fighting these battles without us so we can turn our backs on them...You are giving your people an opportunity here." Patton then offered Governor Bakerman his services as advisor on tax policy should he win re-election as governor in 1922;Governor Bakerman accepted! It wasn't until after World War II did tax rates start coming down across most American states causing businesses such as Maconugh's Cotton Gin Company to begin hiring again due largely because they didn't haveto pay property taxes anymore since they were now corporate entities which received federal income tax payments( see sidebar below ). This period also saw McFadden Motorsports produce their biggest racecar victory yet at Watkins Glen International Raceway when driver Jimmie Johnson won driving car #87 driven by Chip Ganassi Racing Team Owner Rick Hendrick ....and helpedlaunch NASCAR into national mainstream visibility ......the event became known colloquially asThe Great American Race

However, after that conflictrought period of economic decline in Georgia (the 1920s were particularly difficult), McDonough fell into obscurity until it regained some popularity in recent years as an arts community.
Mcdonough was founded in 1785 by Captain John McDonough and his wife Estella. The town was named after General James Mcdonough who fought in the American Revolutionary War. In 1814, the town was renamed McDonoughville after General James Wilkinson who led British forces during the war. The town lost its status as a community in 1861 when it became part of Augusta County.
