During this time period there also developed some very important institutions withinMacon City limits such as University of Georgia law School established 1865; Court House built 1861; Masonic Lodge #1 chartered 1864; Presbyterian Church organized 1862; Female Asylum for Incurables erected 1861-1863; first African American school teacher appointed 1870 There also continued various cultural activities throughout this period like pottery making being popular among women during this time period while theater productions often featured local talent like George Washington Carver playing piano for special shows outdoors on Market Square etcetera
