In 1940, the United States Post Office moved from its original location in Griggs to what is now Loganville. During World War II, the town served as a major base for military operations in eastern Georgia. After the war ended, many businesses and homes were built in Loganville and it quickly became one of the most vibrant communities in Fayette County. Today, there are several interesting aspects about Loganville that make it unique: 1) It has been called "The Gateway to East Cobb" because of its location within walking distance of numerous cultural attractions such as Georgian Bookstore & Cafe (the only independent bookstore on Earth), Ponce de Leon Park (home to one of Atlanta's largest collections of Mediterranean culture), The Chattahoochee Museum of Art (one of America's largest art museums), and more. 2) There are also several restaurants and bars located within walking distance of each other which gives residents plenty options for food during their day-to-day lives. 3) With so much activity happening nearby - both inside and outside - there is always something going on that people can enjoy!

Loganville is named after General Andrew Jackson who fought in the American Revolutionary War. The courthouse and jail were built in 1827 and 1829 respectively. In 1861, Confederate General Jubal Early invaded Alabama and began his advance into Georgia, passing through Loganville on his way north. The town's stores were looted and burned as early as November 10 of that year. On February 25th, 1862, Union General Robert Ewell passed through Loganville while conducting an assault against Mobile Bay Bridge. There are several contributing factors to the destruction of the town: lack of cannon ammunition for the Union troops (especially Longstreet's corps), high taxes levied upon farmers who could not afford to replace cannons which had been destroyed during previous raids by Confederate forces, several fires which started when Confederates tried to torch businesses owned by Patriots or people who had helped them fight against their enemies; also age-old feuds between Patriot groups continued even after war ended
