Loganville is a small town in Putnam County, Georgia, United States. It was established in 1868 as a post office and has since been the home of the Cannon Ball school district. The community is located about 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Atlanta. As of the 2010 census, Loganville had a population of 1,521 people. Bullets first came to Loganville from Georgia in 1842 when Colonel John Troup gave them to General Andrew Jackson during his invasion of that state. Like other areas around the country at that time, guns were scarce and ammunition expensive so cannons were used instead to shoot bullets which killed many animals and people on both sides. In 1865 Confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest set up camp near present-day Loganville and began using it as an encampment for his men while they were besieging Atlanta. On November 8th, 1865 two soldiers who were Cleaning rifle stocks at Fort Cobb saw movement outside the fortifications and holstered their pistols before entering to investigate what they thought was an animal being ridden across the road by a white man or woman on horseback. When they got closer they realized it was Confederate general Forrest's cavalry riding through town on their way back from raiding nearby farms. One soldier fired several shots into the air in celebration before running towards Fort Cobb where he alerted his comrades and surrendered with only 14 wounds after fighting off five charges from Forrest's cavalrymen

It has been reported that Loganville may have been founded as early as 1785. The first permanent settler in what is now Loganville was James Caldwell, who arrived in 1786. At the time of its founding, Loganville consisted of just a few homes and a post office. By 1810, it had grown to include a courthouse and several hundred residents. In 1827, an act was passed by the Georgia General Assembly which designated the town of Loganville as the seat of magistracy for portions of Fulton County. This designation lasted until 1838 when Athens took control of Fulton County and designation passed to Athensburg. During Reconstruction era (1868-1877), relations between white and black citizens were tense due to race-based discrimination within the government and business sectors. This tension culminated with two outbreaks of violence in 1870 which left three people dead and dozens injured. These incidents made national headlines and raised awareness about race relations in America during this time period. In order to improve public transportation conditions for African Americans living in poverty areas such as Loganville, mayor Willie Horton established a wagon ride service beginning on April 15, 1871 called "Nigger Ride." This program served as an opportunity for whites and African Americans to walk or ride together through downtown streets without incident
