Lawrenceville, Georgia is a small town located in Cobb County, Georgia. The population was 2,754 at the 2000 census. It is part of theAtlanta metropolitan area. The city's first telescopes were installed in 1884 by a group of Lawrenceville residents who pooled their money to purchase equipment from various dealers. The telescope being erected today is one of only two still in use in the city and has been used for astronomical research by locals and visitors since then. There are a few other interesting things about this small town that make it an interesting place to explore for scopes history enthusiasts: 1) Because it was home to Wernher von Braun's early rocket development program, scientists from across North America stopped by the city during his time as director of NASA headquarters to ask questions about space travel and missile technology; 2) One of the few places where you can buy real-world telescope parts online (and learn more about how they work); 3) A number of member organizations associated with amateur astronomy have been formed here over time including HSTA (Historical Society of Amateur Telescope Association), which hosts planetariums on both summer nights and during school vacations; 4) One local landmark that has really come into its own over the years as an observatory complex is Ponce de Leon Park which features several large Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes along with several smaller telescopes used primarily for astrophotography; 5) There are also regular open meetings and meetups organized by various groups related to amateur astronomy throughout the year – something that always puts a smile on someone's face when they walk through town!

The history of Lawrenceville dates back to 1802 when a group of men from what is now Lawrenceville founded a small settlement on the Chattahoochee River. In 1825, settlers from Baldwin County began arriving and by 1830 there were over 100 residents in the town. In 1835, Lawrenceville was incorporated as a village and by 1840 had 1,500 residents. The first school in Lawrenceville was built in 1836 and by 1840 it had 26 students. A post office was established in 1841 and until 1865 it served only as an exchange house for mail between Athens and Lawrenceville. After 1865 it became an own Post Office with its own ZIP code

The history of Lawrenceville goes back to 1811 when General James Lawrence founded the post office here with seven other settlers. The first store was built on what is now Main Street and operated until 1836. In that year, an act of Congress created Cherokee County and placed Lawrenceville within it. As time passed, more people moved into this small town and over time it became known as "the most beautiful place in America." In 1928 the new Georgia State Capitol was completed here and quickly became one of Atlanta's most popular tourist destinations due to its beautiful architecture and interesting features such as its clock tower which can be seen from downtown Atlanta! Over the years many famous people have been associated with Lawrenceville including CNN personality Piers Morgan, singer/songwriter Stevie Wonder and author Stephen King who wrote his novel "The Dark Tower" here. However, today things are starting to change for Lawrenceville as many businesses have closed or relocated away from the small town over recent years – leaving behind a community that is struggling economically but still tries to maintain some level of cultural significance despite dwindling resources. Despite these challenges, there are still many residents who live in this proudly independent community that loves its history & culture!

The town grew rapidly during the antebellum period, and by 1810 it had a population of 1,500. In 1827, Lawrenceville became the county seat of Lawrence County.
