Lawrenceville is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 17,869 at the 2010 census. Lawrenceville is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area and is located on the north side of the city limits. It borders neighboring DeKalb County to the east, Paulding County to the south and west, and Lithonia to the north. The site where Lawrenceville now stands was first inhabited by Native Americans in 1688. In 1837, General Nathan Bedford Forrest order all American Indians be removed from Lawrenceville after they refused to sign a treaty recognizing his role as military leader against Native Americans during the Seminole Wars. The town was founded by Colonel John A. Allen in 1853 as a farming community named for him after he won an arms race against General Andrew Jackson with his rifle company known as "the Red Legs". Allen's home still stands today within walking distance of downtown Lawrenceville. The town grew rapidly during Reconstruction following the Civil War, becoming one of the most successful cotton towns in Georgia due to its location on major transportation routes and its ability to produce food that could be sold throughout Greater Atlanta (then Durham, North Carolina). In 1870s local planter James Burch bought 1/3 interest in what would become Peachtree City railway company; this allowed him control over commerce through railroads throughout Fulton and Cobb Counties while promoting rice production in central Georgia – something which had been difficult or impossible before because of swampy land around Peachtree Creek and lack of good roads system connecting it with other parts of Georgia. By 1902 Peachtree City had developed into one ofAtlanta's largest streetcar suburbs with over 100 blocks wide streets grid-like bounded by trees on each block with several large mansions built between 1900-1920 many still standing today including Mrs. Gwendolyn McDowell's home now used as apartments above a small grocery store on Second Street NW across from Piedmont Park Zoo & Aquarium

By 1938, all handgun possession had been banned except for owners who had a permit from a state government official or from using their weapon in an authorized competition or defense against crime. Magazines were also now being outlawed as well, though this decision was later overturned on appeal due to precedents set forth elsewhere in American jurisprudence (e.g., Brown v Holley).

By 1853, Lawrenceville had become one of the largest cities in Georgia with a population over 100,000 people. The town's growth led to an increase in development around it including several large factories and buildings such as Cook & Son Store and Masonic Hall which still stand today. Despite this growth, however, many residents felt that they were not getting what they needed from their government or businesses because they were not near downtown or other major industries. In 1881, local citizens voted to form a new city government with themselves as the Mayor and City Councilmember instead of being subject to state government control like they had been since before independence from Britain. This move helped give Lawrenceville some much-needed autonomy and allowed it to build up infrastructure such as sewers and water systems that it would use for years to come. In 1906, after additional growth in Lawrenceville due to World War I onwards (the war resulted in an influx of refugees who contributed greatly to the city's growth), Congress passed legislation giving cities within their borders extraterritoriality which meant that these cities could do whatever they wanted without fear of retribution from state governments if these actions violated state laws or infringed upon their own jurisdictions
