Lawrenceville, Georgia is a small town located in Fulton County, Georgia. The population was 6,980 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Ida Jane Caldwell (1872-1959) was born in Lawrenceville and graduated from high school there in 1886 before moving to Atlanta with her parents when she was nine years old. She worked her way up through various positions at her father's business until he died in 1942, at which time she took over management full-time; she remained active until her death 10 years later. At least three other women—Doris Kearns Goodwin (1924-2012), Paula Hawkins (1982-) and Alice Paul—were also active mayors or chairmen during this time period: Margaret Haley Mills (1960-) became mayor after leaving service as deputy administrator for housing under President Reagan; Gwendolyn Wright Barnes (1975-) served as interim mayor following Mayor McAllister's resignation; Myrtle Hightower Rankin succeeded Barnes when she retired after eight years as mayoralty; Patricia Ayer became acting mayor upon Mayor Rankin's retirement effective November 5, 2000; Tish Riddle resigned effective December 6 due to health concerns about becoming pregnant while serving as acting mayor

After their visit, many residents began calling for Coca Cola to be moved to Lawrenceville so that it could be enjoyed by all. In 1886, Coca Cola finally moved to its current location within central Lawrenceville and has been headquartered there ever since. Since its inception as a small community near Savannah, Lawrenceville has undergone many changes and expansions; some of which have made it one of the most vibrant towns on Long Island Sound! Today, lawrencevilletown is home to over 11 thousand residents and continues To thrive thanks largely to its excellent schools (including two Nobel Prize winners), wide range of cultural activities (including classical music performances every weeknight!), 24-hour fitness center and lively nightlife scene!
