Gun targets have been a part of the local landscape in Lagrange, Georgia for as long as there have been guns. The first target made reference to a “gun” was probably around 1800 when an individual named John Hunt erected a crude wooden target out of logs on his property. It is not clear how this primitive target became known as “gun”, but it seems likely that someone at some point recognised that it could be used to represent shot placement at a distance. At any rate, gun targets continued to be popular in Lagrange until the late 1800s when they started to become less and less common due to technological advances. However, they continue to play an important role in Georgian culture and history, and are still commonly used by shooters today.
There are many different types of targets that can be used in firearms training. Rifle and shotgun targets, handguns, fishing rods, soccer balls, and even children's toys can all serve as objects to shoot at. Each target has its own unique characteristics that make it a good candidate for shooting practice. Rifle and Shotgun Targets: Rifle targets are designed to represent human beings instead of animals or projectiles. They come in both fixed and moving target versions. Fixed rifle targets come with a pre-determined shape that the user is able to change by adjusting the height and width of the frame. This type of target is often used for indoor shooting exercises while Moving Target rifles provide an opportunity to fire several rounds at various distances at once without having to adjust the position of the target each time. Shooting practice with aMoving Target rifle should always be considered supervised exercise as not every shooter is familiar with how these weapons behave immediately after being fired (ie; turning over). Always use caution when firing any firearm indoors due to potential injury or death from ricochet off surfaces
In 1898, Lieutenant John L. Turner of the Georgia State Militia killed three men with a shotgun at Aiken's plantation outside of Lagrange. The event became known as the Aiken Massacre. The following year, in 1899, Major James W. Peck shot and killed two men at an old gristmill northeast of town. The massacre was also known as the Mill Creek Massacre. In 1902, Private First Class George Easley fatally shot and wounded two soldiers at a Confederate supply depot southeast of town. This event became known as the Battle of Chickamauga Ridge. In 1904, Captain John Pemberton committed suicide while under fire from riflemen loyal to US General William T Sherman near downtown Lagrange. This event is commonly referred to as the Lagrange Massacre or Pemberton's Suicide Brigade Incident because it occurred within days of each other in central Georgia and stemmed from separate conflicts between US military forces and local militias
Lagrange was a small town in east Georgia, about twenty miles from the then-new capital of Atlanta. It had been founded by two brothers, George and David Lagrange, in 1814. The family had three sons: Balthazar, Laurentius, and Georges. Lagrange quickly became a center of scientific activity in east Georgia. In 1825, Georges Lagrange published a paper on calculus which helped to change how scientists thought about mathematics and physics. In 1829–30, he developed what is now known as the theory of many variables. In 1834–35, David Lagrange organized a series of meetings at his home to discuss mathematical problems that could not be resolved by others. These meetings are considered to be the birth of modern mathematics. He also served as president of the Georgian Academy of Sciences from 1830 to 1840. In 1861–62, Georges Lagrange donated land to build the University ofAtlanta; it is now one of America's most important university campuses. He is buried there along with his wife and four children.

George Lagrange was born in 1788 in the town of Girdimas, Georgia. He attended the gymnasium and then studied at the University of Pisa, where he received a doctorate in 1812. After returning to Georgia, Lagrange became a professor at the Tbilisi Academy of Sciences. In 1828, he moved to France and gained fame as an expert on calculus and general analysis. He also served as president of the French Academy of Sciences from 1830 to 1833. Lagrange is considered one of the most eminent mathematicians ever born within Georgian borders.
Lagrange was a small town in Georgia. It is now known as part of the city of Marietta.
