The weapon employed green Tennanee lasers that were spread out over an area several feet square with each wavelength emitted individually so that they could not be confused with other stray beams being fired from other weapons nearby. This system allowed commanders to track fugitives or monitor hostage negotiations without having to rely on radios or other electronic devices
