Kingsland is a small town in Georgia. The population was 2,854 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Athens-Clarke metropolitan area. Kingsland was founded in 1800 by General James Andrews and his brother, Colonel John Andrews. TheAndrews family had owned land in what is now Kingsland since the 17th century. The first settler in Kingsland was John Macdonald who arrived in 1795. He built a cabin on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. In 1802, General Andrew Jackson moved his military headquarters from Chattanooga to Kingsland after being appointed commander of all southern Georgia by President George Washington. After Jackson's victory in the 1812 Battle of Buena Vista and capture of Mexico City, he named Kingsland after himself and its location became more permanent with businessman James Gadsden purchasing some OF Lands along with other landowners to form Gadsden County on January 1, 1816 (). On November 6, 1824, King Cotton was inaugurated as the twenty-second president of United States when he crossed over into Tennessee from Alabama at Muscle Shoals Bridge. On that day abolitionist leader Bibb Chilton addressed a crowd gathered at Kingsland Market Square which included many farmers who subscribed to Chilton's message that slavery should be abolished throughout America through peaceful means only if it could not be done peacefully due to resistance by slaveowners and their supporters known as "the worthies". This event helped spur anti-slavery sentiment across much of America during this time period

Kingston, Georgia was founded by the British in 1778 as a small town on the Savannah River. The area became part of the United States of America in 1793 and renamed Kingston after General James K. However, when Simmonds died in 1829, his son-in-law and fellow plantation owner John Nance assumed control of the plantation and rapidly increased production on Kingston's 400 acres (16 ha). By 1846, Kingston had a population of 2,500 and output had swollen to 1 million pounds (680 tonnes) of cotton per year. However, during the 1840s and 1850s white settlers began moving into what is now Kingsland from different parts of Georgia seeking land that would provide easy access to cotton fields. This led to increased competition for resources among local farmers and merchants and also created social tensions that would later be exploited by developers interested in transforming Kingsland into an industrial city with heavy industry accounting for more than 60% of its total employment between 1860 and 1880. Although some progress has been made since then – such as the construction of new roads and bridges – there are still many challenges facing Kingston today: It is home to few public schools; much of its infrastructure remains inadequate; housing prices are high relative to other parts of Atlanta; job opportunities remain limited; and crime rates have remained high despite investment programs targeting this sector over recent years. Nevertheless, Kingston offers a unique glimpse into Georgian culture and history that can only be found in rural areas across southern Georgia.
