Kingsland, Georgia is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. The town is named after King George Washington and his family who settled there in 1785. At that time, the area was part of the Cherokee Nation. In 1801, the United States acquired this land from the Cherokee Nation and made it a part of the newly created Georgia Territory. The first white resident of Kingsland was Captain James Wilkinson who built a plantation here in 1802. However, soon after he arrived, Wilkinson joined forces with General Andrew Jackson to fight against Ulysses S. Grant during the American Civil War. Afterward, Wilkinson lost all his land to Surveyor General John Evans who sold it off for development purposes. Since its establishment as a community in 1884, Kingsland has seen growth and progress both on an individual level and as a whole. Today, Kingsland is home to over 100 businesses including many which are iconic such as Daughters Supermarkets (founded 1984), Golden Triangle BBQ ( founded 1988), Johnson’s Pharmacy ( founded 1971 ), Valley View Elementary School (founded 1984), and Kingsland Baptist Church (founded 1865). Additionally, Kingsland has developed into one of the most vibrant communities in Fulton County with excellent educational opportunities for its residents; making it an ideal place to raise children or grandchildren!

Kingsland is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 9,546 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Kingsland was founded by Scotsmen who arrived in what is now Fulton County in 1786. At first they farmed and raised livestock, but eventually decided to settle on a new land grant from the Creek Nation. They called their new home "Kensington." The town's first settler, John Macdonald, married Anna Cushing in 1804 and soon began building log homes on what became known as Main Street. By 1825, Macdonald had also erected a store and built a sawmill to process logs into lumber. In 1829, he donated land for school purposes and named it Kingsland after his father-in-law's homeland of Scotland (also spelled Kinston). Some early residents were farmers such as James Denton and Alexander Smith; others were mechanics such as David Hillyer and Hiram Cobb; while still others worked at local businesses like the store owned by John MacDonald Jr., which operated until 1954. In 1837 Kingsland had two churches: one Congregational and one Presbyterian. The Presbyterian church was built on Church Avenue near present-day Centennial Park Boulevard; it remains an active congregation today with over 1,000 members dues-paying members included inside the building itself! A post office was established at Kingsland in 1840, serving residents until 1865 when mail service was transferred to Decaturville due to its larger population size then Kingston. In 1870s George Washington Carver came to live here with his family before moving eastward across the country (he later founded Tuskegee University). He purchased some property adjacent to Main Street where he erected a large tract of farmlands that forms much of eastern KingsLAND today - this includes much of Centennial Park Boulevard including present day Kensington Elementary School! This acreage is now Carver National Monument! In 1906 Kingstown Baptist Church moved from its original location behind Macdonald Store onto current site of Centennial Park Blvd just north of Present Day Kensington Elementary School - Southside Baptist also relocated there soon afterwards! Kingsland was founded in 1821 by Captain John Kingsbury. The community was named for King George II of England, who had granted land to the town on his visit to Georgia in 1819. The townspeople were able to get a sod farm from the state legislature and began farming in 1827. By 1830, the town had a total population of 350 people and it became known as the "Second City of Georgia." In 1834, the Chatham County Legislature passed an act creating Kingsland Township. The township's first mayor was James Biddle. The townsite changed hands several times until it was purchased by Fayetteville businessman J.B. Buchanan in 1865. Buchanan laid out Kingsland into blocks and built roads and homes there. He also developed a small shopping center, which he called "The Square." In 1898, Kingsland voters passed a referendum asking for annexation by Fayetteville. The request was accepted and Fayetteville made Kingsland its official city Limits on October 1, 1898. Kingsland continued to grow rapidly through 2001 when it had a population of 2,000 residents! In 2006,Kingston (the larger municipality) merged with Kingsland so that they could have one centralized government resource!
