Kingston, Georgia is a town in metro Atlanta, United States. The population was 24,691 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fulton County metropolitan area. The Kingsland community was founded as a farming village on an agricultural tract near present-day Hawkinsville by Captain James Fenton and his family in 1821. The first road through Kingston was established in 1823 when General Nathan Bedford Forrest traveled through the area looking for new land to settle. A post office was organized in 1827, and growth continued until the early 20th century when many people moved away forties due to the Panic of 1907 and other economic factors. In 1915, King's Hardware and Department Store became one of America's first department stores after it opened its doors on Broad Street in downtown Kingston. In 1927, The Coca Cola Company purchased King's Hardware from Fenton's heirs and called it their own bottling plant until it closed in 2003. In that year, Coca Cola also merged with PepsiCo to become one company across all business areas (except retail) under the name PepsiCo Entertainment Incorporated. Today, Kingston remains a small town with limited commerce but plenty of history thanks to its many businesses which have left their mark on this community over the years: King's Hardware & Department Store; Coca Cola Bottling Plant; The Millinery Shop; Presbyterian Church; Andover Grammar School; Baptist Church (1938).

In 1828, the Georgia General Assembly passed a bill that designated Kingsland as a county seat of Cherokee County. The site of present-day Kingsland was chosen because it was considered to be one of the most fertile and rainfall-rich areas in the state. The first courthouse in Kingsland was built in 1829 and served as the county seat until 1851 when it was moved to Huntsville. The county seat reverted back to Kingsland in 1907. Kingsland is located on the Cumberland River and has a population of approximately 33,000 people. It is home to two high schools, four colleges/universities, three shopping malls, six churches, two correctional institutions, four water parks and an amusement park. In addition to its economic importance as a center for business activity and culture,Kingsland also has significant historical significance due to its role in the Cherokee-American War (1836-1839). The Battle of Kings Land took place on November 17th, 1836 between American forces under Generals Andrew Jackson and John Browning and Creek forces commanded by General Jameson Clarke. Jacobs’ men had been retreating from this battle after suffering heavy losses at Battle of Horseshoe Bend seven days earlier; they were pursued by Jackson’s army which caught up with them near present day Decatur Road. Jacobs decided not to seek help from his fellow Cherokees who were fighting against Browning’s forces; instead he chose to retreat into what is now known as “Mount Carmel plantation” which lay within Confederate lines at that time. This decision allowed Clarke’s force uncontested access into Cherokee County where they pillaged villages and burned homes before turning their attention towards Jacobs’ men who had retreated into Mount Carmel plantation. Aftermath: Many women and children were captured or killed by militia members while others managed to escape unharmed but many did not return home until much later when independence was finally recognized by both United States government and Creek Nation leadership
Kingsland was founded by the Creek Indians in 1811. The area that is now Kingsland was part of the Cherokee Nation until 1830. In 1837, the Georgia General Assembly designated Kingsland as a town, and it became an incorporated city in 1870. The city was renamed Atlanta on November 15, 1886, in honor of President George WashingtonAtlanta United Football Club
