The Kennesaw Rifle Company was formed in 1881 by a group of Georgia farmers who wanted to make their own rifles. The company produced its first rifle, the Model 1886, in 1883. The Model 1886 was the first rifle to be made in America with a detachable magazine. It also had a Pistol grip and a 13-round clip. The company became famous for producing the Marlin rifle. That rifle was used to fight in World War I and II and also later became popular as an hunting rifle. In 1922, the Kennesaw Rifle Company merged with the Atlanta Arms Company to form the Atlanta Gun Works Incorporated (AGW). AGW continued production of rifles and shotguns until it closed in 1954. During its time at AGW, the company produced over 100 different firearms models including pistols, revolvers, assault weapons, shotguns, and sniper rifles.

In 1821, General Andrew Jackson's army passed through what is now Kennesaw on their march from Fort Pulaski to Atlanta. General James Wilkinson built a house here as his headquarters during this time. In 1847, Peach Orchard Plantation was founded by Nathan Bedford Forrest and his family nearpresentday Centerville Road and US- 41/SR-2 ( concurrent with SR-1). For many years it was one of the most influential landowners in Cobb County because of its position along transportation corridors linking Cobb County with Savannah and Nashville, Tennessee. In 1907, the Forrest family sold their holdings to John Waddell & Sons Corp., a cotton company that became part of JW Marriott Hotel Corporation today. In 1865, Confederate General Jubal Early attacked Union forces at Chattahoochee River Bridge over which Confederate General Robert Ewell had been ordered retreat southward prior to battle; casualties were high on both sides but early reports suggested that Early had successfully crossed over into Union territory unchallenged despite heavy losses among his own troops.. Aftermath led President Abraham Lincoln to issue an Executive Order calling for all military officers holding commissions or higher who acted withinUnion lines "to take such measures as may appear necessary for suppressing disaffected elements". This order effectively disbanded Confederate forces throughout much of southern America including Cobb County where most of these officers still held nominal rank after being transferred elsewhere.. A Ford Model T automobile designed by American car designer Albrecht Dürer drove first ever miles east from Smyrna across I-5 (now Interstate 5) in 1915 while supplies were being delivered north from Chattanooga via Jonesboro Rd./SR-166 (Now US Hwy 166) eastbound on I-5 North towards Decatur/Gadsden... After World War II Kennasaw experienced rapid growth due primarily to its status as an educational center due largely to two institutions: The University of Georgia located here since 1903 and Piedmont College which opened its doors in 1943

Kennesaw, Georgia is a city in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 25,362 as of the 2010 census. Kennesaw is the county seat of Cobb County and home to the Etowah Park Recreation Center and the Kennesaw State University campus. It is also the location of the annual Atlanta Auto Show. The first Europeans to contact what is now Kennesaw were French traders in 1764 who named it "Cheyenne" because they thought Native Americans there were related to that tribe. The area was part of Cherokee Nation until 1821 when all Cherokee nation citizens were forced west by General Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Act. In 1838, John Carswell established a ferry service from Savannah, Georgia to Marietta, Alabama which became known as the Cartersville Ferry Route. In 1841 he built a steamboat landing on what is now downtown Kennesaw and named it "Cartersville Landing". He developed land here and founded the town of Cartersville in 1846 with his wife Anna (Fayette) Carswell as its first mayor. The town grew rapidly because of its location at a strategic crossroads on two major routes linking Atlanta with Decatur and Birminghams textile mills while also being connected by wagon road to surrounding farms and villages. In 1865–66 surveyors discovered coal seams under Georgian soils near present-day Kennesaw Boulevard and decided to develop this property into one of the most important coal mining regions in America during this time period. Coal production began arriving from these seams soon after establishment; kennels were built along portions of present-day Grissom Road/Boulevard between 1870 and 1880 for horses used in transportation across country; brick buildings replaced pioneer huts beginning in 1890; telephone services arrived in 1895; electric lights arrived in 1901; an express train service running through town commenced operations on October 2, 1902
Kennesaw was founded in 1821 as a trading post on the Chattahoochee River by General Andrew Jackson. The town grew rapidly, and in 1868 it became the site of the first national Republican Convention. In 1886, Kennesaw became an incorporated city.
