In 1806, General Nathan Bedford Forrest purchased some binoculars from a French trader. He began using them to view the surrounding countryside while tracking down runaway slaves. In 1828, one of Forrest’s men discovered a group of Cherokee Indians working on a plantation near Kennesaw. The next year, he joined forces with General Andrew Jackson to invade Georgia. While victorious, he lost many members of his army including Forrest. This led to the development of binocular etiquette among American soldiers during the Civil War era: any white soldier who found himself alone with Native Americans must take theirbinoculars back home before they could be confiscated! During the war, many Confederate officers obtained binoculars from Union prisoners of war. After the war ended, many Confederate veterans returned to find their equipment seized by the United States government - this was also the first time that such seizures were made during peacetime! However, these devices were not melted down like cannons or artillery pieces; instead they were abandoned and slowly forgotten until 1978 when they were reactivated by local farmers as part of a project called “The Kennesaw Project” which focused on preserving natural resources in Kennesaw County. By 1900, Kennesaw had become an important commercial and industrial center with its own school system and brickyards that produced bricks for other cities such as Atlanta and Mobile. Railroads also helped to drive development, with two lines running through Kennesaw: one east-west fromAtlanta to Chattanooga via Marietta (now Goodyear) before turning north towards Macon; and another north-south from Kennesaw to Decatur (now DeKalb). In 1925, Sheriff Johnnie Cochran called a meeting of all local officials to discuss creating a municipal government for the town of Kennesaw which would have included policing duties as well as fire protection. This event signaled the beginning of what would eventually be called "the municipality movement" in American municipalities during the 1920s. During World War II, Kennesaw played an important role in manufacturing aluminum munitions plants which were used throughout North Africa and Europe. After the war ended, many businesses left town including many that were associated with aluminum production – most notably Alcoa Corporation who built their first factory outside of America at Watertown Road near downtown Kennesaw in 1951. Many people continue to live here today because of its rich history including industries such as aluminum processing, education & research institutions such as Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU), Atlantica Healthcare Group Inc., Asurion Logistics Holding Co., LLC., Pinnacle Aluminum Products Co., Inc., South Plains Coal Company

Kennesaw, Georgia is a town located in Cobb County, Georgia on the Chattahoochee River. The population was 11,822 at the 2010 census. Kennesaw was founded in 1825 by General Nathan Bedford Forrest and is named for him. It became a city in 1907 and is the second-largest city in metro Atlanta after Atlanta. The town of Kennesaw was first settled by white men on land that now includes much of downtown Kennesaw. The first house there was built by John Pritchett in 1825. In 1826, General Nathan Bedford Forrest established a military post at what is now known as Fort Magician near present-day downtown Kennesaw and named it for himself, using part of his estate here. In 1830, Forrest constructed a mill complex here which soon became one of the most important mills in west Tennessee. By 1840, all of northeast Georgia had been annexed to Cobb County including Kennesaw and many other small towns along its banks. In 1845, while still living at Fort Magician, Forrest negotiated an alliance with Cherokee Chief Osage Nation leader Robeson Jones which led to the Creek War (1845-1846). Afterwards he moved back to Chattanooga where he began vigorously promoting annexation into Tennessee of all of Alabama and parts of Mississippi Territory (now Oklahoma) on behalf of slaveowners within his own party during the 1850s – an activity that eventually led to his impeachment trial over charges of treason against United States President James Ketchum During Reconstruction following Reconstruction America's Lost Cause Movement emerged spearheaded by former Confederate General Robert Ewell – also headquartered in Chattanooga – which aimed to create an African American majority state based onJim Crow laws throughout most south central America including south Georgia Afterward Kennesaw grew rapidly as businesses opened up catering to both black and white shoppers alike providing job stability for locals during this time period not seen since before Reconstruction began In January 1901 Mayor Lenoir announced plans for a new shopping mall called "Mall on Main" adjacent to downtownKennesaw which would become one of the largest shopping malls in North America with over 100 stores when it opened officiallyocated just east off I-75 next doorto Mallon Avenue across from Peachtree Center mall later renamed PGA Village In 1978 construction began on what would become Home Depot with then Mayor Sonny Bonham announcing that it would be completed within three years with Originally designed as two stories retail/office space but rose quickly to six stories becoming one some call today world’s tallest buildingHomespun@ Home Depot
