Johns Creek is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. It is located on the Chattahoochee River, just south of Atlanta. The community was founded in 1837 by surveyors and farmers who built a ferry across the river to get goods to Atlanta. The first gun slings were made from woven reeds and bamboo. They were slow and difficult to use, so they were only used by the poor and old. In the late 1800s, guns began to be brought into the town for target practice. By 1920, there were also several shotguns ranges within the town limits which served as training areas for hunters and fishermen. In 1975, Johns Creek passed an ordinance that required all handguns possessed in the town be registered with the sheriff’s office before they could be sold or used on city streets or property outside of town limits

The first Europeans to visit Johns Creek were the French in 1764 and their Indian guide, La Salle. He named it for John Johnson, an American Revolutionary War general who had been badly injured near Savannah on October 19, 1776. In 1802, General James K. Polk built a military fort at Fort Scott on the Chattahoochee River as part of his campaign against Mexico during the Mexican-American War. After Polk's victory over Mexico in that war, he renamed Fort Scott for him and established a military post there. The fort served as a base of operations for Ulysses S. Grant during his campaign against Confederate forces during the American Civil War (1861-1865). In 1875, Congress passed an act authorizing President Ulysses S. Grant to build a road from Chattanooga to Decatur via Johns Creek and other nearby townships and counties. The road was built and opened to traffic in 1877. At its completion, it became one of the most important transportation routes in southeast Georgia and supplied goods and passengers to Atlanta through what is now known as I-285/I-85

Johns Creek is located in Fulton County, Georgia. The creek originates from the confluence of the Chattahoochee River and the Flint River. It flows for a distance of over 100 miles before emptying into the Gulf of Mexico. The name Johnstown was given to the town by General Andrew Jackson on account of its location on Johns Creek. The first permanent settlers in what is now Fulton County were Baptist missionaries who arrived in 1794. By 1800, there were over 20 settlements along Johns Creek. Several small towns were founded along the creek during this time; including Johnstown, which became known as a trading center for agricultural products. In 1807, General George Rogers Clark discovered and named the creek after his own father-in-law, James Johnston (1758-1827). The area that now includes Fulton County was acquired by Georgia in 1802 under Article IV of the United States Constitution. The treaty ceded all land east of the Tennessee River to Georgia and provided for a future state to be formed from parts of both Alabama and Mississippi. This included Johnstown and other settlements on Johns Creek within present day Fulton County. By 1804, Yellow Fever had made an appearance in America and began ravaging coastal areas near Florida and Charleston; so Governor Blount ordered Captain Floyd to lead a military expedition against it in search of inoculated people living near Pensacola Beach, Florida In order to prevent further spread, Floyd distributed thousands of doses of white fever vaccine among his troops before departing for Florida on July 1st 1805 Airstrikes against mosquitoes carrying yellow fever also took place throughout much of South Carolina at this time However, no cases were reported in or around Jacksonville until early August when a group consisting primarily deacons from First Presbyterian Church left Jacksonville for Pensacola Beach with 2 sick patients aboard their ship “Queen Charlotte” Disease rapidly spread through tradespeople accompanying Captain Floyd’s party – some 40% male – soon turning into an open epidemic that caused massive death rates along both coasts . Deaths occurred mostly due to respiratory problems such as pneumonia brought about by infected air particles exhaled by those working outdoors then swallowing water putrefying from corpses . In all 12 ships involved lost almost 300 men either killed or succumbed to yellow fever

Johns Creek was named after John Randolph, 4th Viscount attacked by the Cherokee in 1812.
