Johns Creek, Georgia is a small town located in Middle Georgia on the Chattahoochee River. The population of Johns Creek was 9,711 at the 2000 census. As of the 2010 census, its population had grown to 11,827. The townspeople of Johns Creek were early pioneers in developing the area that now includes present-day Johns Creek Township and parts of Fulton County. In 1820, John Day founded what would become known as Day's Station. Today's Day Road climbs out of junction with US 231 inDay's Station proper and continues eastward through rural areas until it intersects US 21 northwest of town. In 1825, Nicholas Musgrove started a salt works at Cross Keys and named it Musgrovetown after himself and his brother-in-law, General James Easley Musgrove (1781-1856). By 1830, Musgrovestown had developed into a sizeable settlement with a storehouse and several homes. On January 17th, 1834 - just over one year after day arrived at nearby Gainesville - George Rogers began conducting experiments with firearms at his lab on what would become Rogers' Mill Pond. On February 3rd - three days after day first set foot on the property -Rogers fired two shots from a rifle from an elevated position near his mill pond to determine how effective rifles could be when shot from low positions such as this one. This test became known as "the first gun battle" in America; Rogers' victory demonstrated that firearms could be used effectively for hunting purposes beyond their traditional military roles.

The Republic lasted until 1831 when it was annexed by Georgia. During its time as an independent republic, Johns Creek experienced significant development including the construction of roads, bridges, and schools. In 1830, John Fenton built what is now known as Fenton Hall which served as the capital of the Republic. After becoming part of Georgia, Johns Creek experienced a period of decline due to economic hardships but it reemerged in the late 19th century with new development including shopping malls and homes that can still be seen today. Today, Johns Creek is one of Georgians' most popular tourist destinations with attractions such asFenton Hall Museum and Riverfront Park
