The Jesup Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1881 by Captain Fenton Jesup. The club acquired its current name in 1886 when it merged with the nearby Magnolia Rifle and Pistol Club. In 1898, the club became a part of the Georgia rifle association and participated in statewide competitions. In 1899, the Jesup Rifle and Pistol Club purchased their first pistol, a Model 1892 Springfield Armory rifle. In 1906, the Jesup Rifle and Pistol Club purchased an old cannon from General Nathan Bedford Forrest for use as a shotgun range. The cannon was eventually converted into a replica of an English Cannon that can be seen at the Christian Science Monitor Gun Show located at 617-618 Peachtree Street NW in Atlanta, GA. From 1913 to 1916, Captain Jesup served as president of the Georgia rifle association. During his tenure as president, he helped support many state championships which included gold medals at both World Championships held in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania in 1913 and 1914; silver medals at two national matches held in Athens, GA on October 15th and November 3rd 1914; and bronze medals at four international matches held between January 9th through February 5th 1915 including two world championships held in Belgium (Belgium Open Championship at Antwerpen’s Goudaerdeplein stadium on October 11st 1914 & Belgian Open Championship Held at Mons on February 7th 1915)
Jesup is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,941 at the 2000 census. Jesup is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The first settlers in Jesup were two brothers named William and Jesse King who arrived on a flatboat in 1814. They built a cabin on the Chattahoochee River and started trading with the Indians. In 1828, three brothers named John, James and Ebenezer Jesup founded what would become Jesup Plantation on what is now State Highway 231. The Jesups ran a cotton plantation until 1855 when they sold it to Ephraim Pickens Sr.. Pickens also bought land near present-day Druid Hills for a black community called Tuskegee Airmen Park which he eventually developed into an all-black college known as Tuskegee University. Jesup was incorporated as a village in 1903 by ordinance of the Georgia General Assembly under the name of "Pickensville". It reincorporated as a town in 1905 after being selected by lottery from among five villages that had applied for incorporation. Jesup has been mentioned numerous times in books and movies including "The Great Gatsby", "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Ender's Game". In 1992, JesseUP was featured prominently during season 2 of HBO's popular series "The Wire". In recent years, JesseUP has seen new development such as an auto dealership, restaurant and gift shop; however much of its old infrastructure remains intact including its main square where businesses used to sit before being moved away to make way for new development.

Ultimately, Hammerless Firearms failed to gain acceptance among professional shooters because they were unable to meet their performance expectations compared to moretraditional firearms.
