The history of gun targets in Hinesville, Georgia can be traced back to the early 1800s. The first known target gallery in this town was established by Nicholas Hines in 1802. At that time, Hinesville was a small farming community located about 15 miles northeast of Atlanta. Over time, other local residents added their own contribution to the target gallery scene in Hinesville. Some of these individuals include J.C. Williamson, Wm. Treadwell and Amos Kendall. In 1881, Elisha Peake opened the first successful shooting ground in what is now downtown Hinesville with his rifle range and pistol club house. In 1916, Drury Ladd opened his sophisticated gun range and field artillery practice facility on Fourth Street just east of downtown Hinesville. This complex included a large Target Range capable of accommodating up to 100 shooters at any given time and several smaller ranges sporting various calibers of firearms including shotguns and pistols. Drury Ladd also hosted a number of Gun shows throughout the year which attracted customers from all over Atlanta and Georgia

From that time until it was reactivated in 1978 by then-Memorial High School student, Donnie McIntyre, the club enjoyed a period of growth that has made it one of the most active rifle and pistol clubs in Hinesville. In 2018, the club successfully fundraiser raised over $7000 towards Plateau Firearms Training Center’s 2017-2018 firearms program.
Hinesville is a small city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 21,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta–Fulton metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1814 by Captain John Hines and his family after they sold their farmstead for $5 to General James Wilkinson. The first store opened in 1827 and the first school in 1829. The post office was established in 1830 and became known as Hinesville. In 1846, the town annexation created a new city with a population of 506 people. In 1861, Confederate General Jubal Early invaded Union territory near Atlanta and advanced into rural Fulton County looking for reinforcements from behind the lines. On July 24, 1861, Early's force drove off Federal troops led by Brigadier General George Crook on what became known as "Hine's Mill Road". Aftermath of this battle included more than 100 deaths on both sides. After the war ended on April 9, 1865,[1] Hineville returned to its original form with a population of 607 residents (of which 511 were citizens). One notable event during this time period was when local physician Drs Benjamin Banneker and Elijah White organized an effort to found what would become Chastain Hospital later that year (the hospital existed until 1966). Today Hinesville remains an agricultural center with over 60% of its residents working within agriculture or related sectors such as ranching or manufacturing. Its principal industry has been since World War II textiles production; however, recent expansions have included pharmaceuticals production and also retail services such as restaurants/bars/cafés catering to nearby suburbs of Dunwoody and Stone Mountain

Hinesville is a town in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,551 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Hinesville was James C. Blount who arrived in 1814 and named it after his brother-in-law, John Hines (1784-1846), one of the first white settlers in what would become Cobb County. The town had its start as a small cluster of log cabins on the east side of Chattahoochee River where Hamilton College now stands. By 1828, Hinesville had a tavern, two grocery stores and fourteen houses. In that year, General Andrew Jackson became president and ordered all U.S. military forces out of Georgia because he believed that slavery should be abolished throughout America without permitting states to continue to legalize it under their own laws--an order known as "Jackson's Dictate." After the end of World War II, many residents left for various reasons; however, some stayed to build new homes and businesses around what is now I-85/EZ ramps leading from I-285 into Cobb County or move closer to friends or family members who were already living thereabouts before the war started (e.g., Reva Cardwell). Most people left by helicopter when Interstate 85 was built through downtown Atlanta in 1976 which created an immediate need for housing close by for workers commuting into work in downtown Atlanta; this led to development along Ponce de Leon Boulevard between Marietta Street and Fulton Street which is now called Innovation District Park
