Hinesville is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia. The population was 1,681 at the 2000 census. Hinesville is located on the eastern edge of the Atlanta metropolitan area and on Hwy 290 adjacent to Roswell. The community began as a farming community in 1837, when John Hines joined forces with fellow settler Elijah White to purchase land from the Cherokee Nation for $5 per acre. The two men immediately started developing their property by plowing and cultivating the land. In 1845, John Hines sold his share in the company to his nephew-in-law James Epps. In 1861, James Epps donated an additional tract of land to the town for use as public square; this donation marked one of many which helped make Hinesville an important center of trade and commerce during its early years. During World War I (1914-18), local farmers produced food for military troops stationed in nearby Fort Snelling; during World War II (1939-1945), they grew crops for wheat and other products used in war production. Today, several businesses operate within the confines of Hinesville proper – including Ponderosa Pizza & Pasta, SuperTarget supermarket, and Champions Cafe – while also providing access to a variety of cultural attractions such as The Barnes Museum of American Art and Wright State University’s School of Music & Dance. As one minor league baseball team has noted: “If you want your child interested in baseball – or anything else where there's physical activity around here – come down to our park every game! It'll give them something to do besides just sit around all day long” .

The town of Hinesville, Georgia was founded in 1853 by John C. Hines and his family. The early residents of the town were farmers and their families, who dairyed and raised chickens. By 1870, the town had a population of 350 people. In 1881, the Georgia Railroad came to Hinesville and began offering service to the town. That year, the first school in Hinesville opened its doors. By 1925, there were 9 schools in Hinesville with grades 1-10th. In 1929, a new courthouse was built in the town and it served as the seat of government for all of Gwinnett County until 1996 when it was replaced by the current courthouse building. The economic growth of Hinesville has been significant over the years; in 1951, there were 5 businesses inHinevilT; by 1990, that number had grown to 16 businesses. Today, many businesses are located within walking distance of each other in what is known as "The Town." One example of how economic growth has impacted society is through job creation; since 1990, there have been more than 100 jobs created within walking distance of each other in "The Town". Additionally, aspects such as pollution control and public transportation have also been important factors contributing to this success story over time. Over $2 billion has been invested into infrastructure projects statewide due to initiatives like Gwinnett Connector which provides transportation options throughout Gwinnett County; these investments have helped create jobs and improve local economies across Gwinnett County!
Hinesville is located in Fulton County, Georgia, about 20 miles south of Atlanta. The first place that European settlers arrived in what is now Hinesville was the Paulding family's plantation on Hiwassee Creek. On October 16, 1784, Lieutenant Colonel James Wilkinson and his company of Georgians under the command of Captain George Rogers Clark landed at Hiwassee Creek and advanced up the creek to explore its potential as a route for trade with Spanish Florida. They discovered large areas of virgin land which they named Milledgee Prairie after one of their men, Samuel Milledge. The first white settler in what is now Hinesville was John Sayers who built a cabin on the banks of Hiwassee Creek in 1801. In 1802, General Andrew Jackson appointed Colonel Isaac Newton as captain of militia forces destined to drive out all Indian traders from southeastern Georgia. Newton's department included responsibility for policing and internal security within the boundaries defined by Jackson. On January 10, 1803, Newton erected a small log house on present-day Main Street in what is now Hinesville to serve as his office and home during this time until he moved into his more permanent home on Broad Street about two years later. In 1804, Major General Phillip Jouett transferred jurisdiction over internal security from Colonel Newton to Major General Amos Kendall whose brigade composed most of those manning Fort McAllister along with other military forces stationed throughout Southeast Georgia during the early 1800s preparatory to invading Spanish Florida through Mobile Bay
