Griffin, GA is a small town in Georgia that has been home to many families for over 100 years. The Griffins are one of the most well-known and respected families in Griffin. They have several generations of farmers, ranchers and politicians who have all played important roles in the community. Today, Griffin is a vibrant place with a rich history that is still being felt today. The Griffins are first generation Americans who emigrated from Sweden in 1847. John Larkin Griffin was born in Griffin in 1853 and he and his family started out farming on their own land. John's father, also named John, died when John was only 7 years old. The family moved to what is now Griffin after buying some land from the McIntyre family. In 1881, John married Anna Beattie and they had 4 children: Edwin (1882-1962), Grace (1885-1966), David (1887-1975) and Janet (1889-1970). During World War II, Griggans served in the military as members of the Army Air Force! They also raised chickens until 1945 which became an important part of their lives because it was during that time that chicken eggs were used for cash crops like rice! Whengrid Griggans retired from her job as a schoolteacher in 1969 she decided to move back to live with her parents so she could continue working at home! She continued working there until she passed away in 1984. After her death, Griggan's husband Hapgood took over management of the farm until his death in 1987. It was then passed down to his son PearlGriffin who continued running it until 2006 when it was sold to developer Bill Trouperski Jr.. Today, there are over 150 people living on the farmstead including 130 descendants of those original immigrants! It has been passionately kept up by both Hapgood's wife Margaret Ann Griffin (née White) and daughter PearlGriffin since 1986 when they began taking care of it as part of a historical preservation project called "A Hundred Generations: A History Of The Griffins' Farmstead". The goal is to document every aspect of life on the farmstead from pre-WWII memories through modern day amenities like irrigation systems and computerized records keeping! There are currently plans underway to add another floor addition - likely housing - onto the current farmhouse which will total around 100 acres across 3 buildings! Unfortunately due to financial constraints this project has not yet progressed past feasibility studies but hopefully someday it can! Today's Griffin features many different types of residents including retirees living close by; students commuting into Atlanta; workers coming into town for lunch or tea; people whose families have lived here since before World War II; tourists visiting during holiday seasons; people who just want peace and quiet while commuting into town center; etc... All these different groups come together each week for services such as groceries shopping or church services at various local churches located within walking distance from the house! AndreaTrouperski - Bill's granddaughter - continues managing everything on behalf of her grandparents without any help from her dad since 2006 when he passed away suddenly at age 71!! As you can see, griffin has seen quite a few changes throughout its long history but never loses its flavor or charm despite all those changes!!!

In 1850, when Atlanta replaced Savannah as the capital of Georgia, Griffin served as its first municipal center. In 1925, Griffin lost its status as a municipality but retained its right to vote and hold public meetings. In 1945, during World War II, Griffin played an important role in helping support the Allied military effort by providing housing for troops and civilian officials. After the war ended, many businesses closed down because of cutbacks in federal funding. However, some natives of Griffin kept their small businesses going through word-of-mouth trading and marketing activities until they relocated to other areas after Katrina struck New Orleans in 2005

In 1829, Griffin became the county seat of Lumpkin County. By 1840, the population had grown to over 500 people and Griffinsville was built as a result of its growth. The town continued to grow until it reached its peak in 1870 when it had a population of 1,500 people. However, by 1880 the population had decreased to just 350 people and Griffin fell out of popularity within the decades after that.
