Bullets were first used in the early 1800s in the Confederate States of America. In 1864, General Robert E. Lee made use of bullets to shoot down a Union soldier at Appomattox Court House. In 1800 two brothers named John and David Fairburn arrived in what is now Fulton County looking for land to purchase (), which turned out not to be very good land but did lead them eventually to found what became Fairburn Township (). In 1804 an act of Congress created Cherokee Nation () which included all present day Alabama (including Cobb County), much less all present day Georgia except Forney Creek (), where it was located east of the Chattahoochee River (). In 1830 a group led by Simon Bolivar Jones set up camp west of Stone Mountain () on what would later become Druid Hills Road (); they called this location Fort Bolivar due to its resemblance to Venezuelan independence hero Simon Bolívar (). This initial group numbered about 50 people including Jones and 14 boys/men under age 16 soon after arrival. By 1840 there must have been nearer than 100 people associated with Ft Bolivar due during this time several buildings were erected including a blacksmith shop (), bakery() and store(). These activities likely continued even into the 1850s because evidence suggests that Ft Bolivar still functioned as a military post until about 1860 when it finally closed down due largely to lack of funding (). Accordingto another source though most people left Ft Bolivar around 1840 because there wasn't enough food or water available nearby so they moved further away towards Decatur or Rome). There are also reports that some may have remained behind caring for munitions stocks while others may have worked constructing infrastructure like roads etc.} Census data indicates that between 1800-2010 Fairburn's population growth rate averaged 2%.
