The Jackson family later sold the property to John Henson in 1836. A year later, he built a two-story frame house on the property which remains standing today. In 1839, Mr Henson married Anna Maria Sellers and began to farm his land around his home. Over time, he added more buildings to his home including a barn and boat dock with docks for fishing vessels. In 1865, John Sellers' son James bought the house from his father-in-law and started farming it himself. James sold land adjacent to East Point in 1875 which led to the development of what is now downtown East Point by him and other farmers around that time. In 1916, James Sellers donated land along US 19 near where he had raised chickens to be used as part of an experimental agricultural program run by US Department of Agriculture called "Operation Feeding America." This effort provided food for army troops stationed at Fort Donelson in Chattanooga during World War I During World War II, many people from East Point worked at various locations throughout Atlanta including Roswell Army Airfield where millions of pieces of airplane parts were produced In 1948, when Atlanta became an independent city under Mayor Andrew Whitehead (D),EastPoint residents voted unanimously in support of annexing their township into Atlanta proper so their community could share services with fellow Atlantans within our jurisdiction Following annexation into Atlanta proper in 1968 by then–Mayor George Turner (R), many businesses closed down due totaxation levied against them by newly formed City Hall; this included locally owned businesses such as those mentioned earlier - until they reopened following municipal approvals allowing them once again In 1984 after 10 years without fire department service due to budget cuts set forth by then–Mayor Kasim Reed (D),the Township Fire Department was established through legislation passed by both houses of Congress requesting it be created ; this Act also provided $5 million for infrastructure improvements including new fire stations and training facilities across the Township . On July 5th 1990 after 15 years with no fires taking place due to budget restrictions put upon us becauseAtlanta was having an overall illegal dump problem - we finally saw emergency response services arrive on scene; this marked our return back onto responsible law enforcement

The first permanent European settlement in what is now East Point was made by Captain James Cook on his voyage to Australia in 1770. Cook named the location "East Point" after the point where he and his men first sighted land while exploring the Australian coast. In 1802, East Point became one of five townships which were organized as a county seat of Fulton County. The town's growth was slow during its early years due to lack of support from either political or economic officials within the township. However, with development along Interstate 85 and other new transportation opportunities, Eastpoint began to experience rapid growth and prospered throughout the late 19th century and into the 20th century. During World War II, East Point played an important role as a leading munitions plant for both Georgia and Allied forces stationed in Europe. The plant served as a major production center for war materials such as gasoline and ammunition until it closed in 1957. Today, much of what remains of the plant are still used for agricultural purposes by local farmers. In recent years, interest in eastern Cobb County has begun to increase due to its unique history and culture which can be found throughout various areas such as downtown Eastpoint (the former courthouse), Weldon's Hill neighborhood nears Interstate 85 (home to many historical buildings dating back to beforeamacaptain Cook's landing), and smaller villages located around Cobb Lake such as Buford (home to several businesses that date back to pre-war days) and Dunwoody (locally known for its annual pumpkin festival). While there are some areas that may not have experienced significant development over time due primarily to strong economic competition from faster growing neighborhoods within east Cobb County - such as unincorporated communities located along I-85 - overall east Cobb has seen unprecedented levels of growth since 2000 when compact mapping created boundaries defining east Cobb had been developed using data collected from VisitAtlanta tourism marketing surveys .
