One such development occurred early in the 20th century when Andrew Mellon donated land to support a school at East Point which would serve local children until 1931 when it became part of Valdosta State University (now Valdosta State University System). That same year saw another important donation when Judge Jules Pemberton gave $5,000 towards construction of a courthouse at East Point which opened its doors on November 1st, 1913. This courthouse still stands today and is used as both municipal courtrooms and as office space for various county departments including public health services and animal control - all within walking distance of each other! During World War II, much effort was put into creating munitions plants located close to major shopping centers across America so that war production could be coordinated smoothly without having any need for remote sites or long hours spent traveling back and forth between factories! One such plant was located just outside ofEastPoint proper on Muscogee Street - known internally as "Mills Road" due to its proximity! Unfortunately, due à la Pearl Harbor (and subsequent effects thereof), this plant ultimately produced far too much heat Signature munitions generated terrible noise levels that led some residents nearby to abandon their homes completely during those wartime years... Though not directly related (thankfully!), it nonetheless provides an interesting footnote about one aspect of life during those difficult times! Since moving away from farming after World War II ended – thanks largely to advances technology – most people associated with eastern Georgia have resided hereabouts throughout their lives barring brief separations for deployments or family vacations elsewhere over periods ranging anywhere from 5 months up 2 years...though there are occasional exceptions! In recent decades there have been several efforts made by rabun county commissioners/elaborate plans collaborative groups working together property owner associations etcetera......to revive interest/repair infrastructure deteriorating slowly along main streets &villages.......in order create more vibrant community hubs.....& thru increased tourism $$$$ & other economic benefits.........the goal is continually expanding eastpoint village boundaries ......bringing closer access by everyone ....discovering unique places happening nowhere else
