After the war ended, most of the businesses closed down but one – The Atlas Coal Company – continued to operate until it merged with another company in 1979. Today there are only a few remaining buildings from this era including the original cabin which is now preserved as part of East Point Historical Museum; and the Patton House which was once home to US General George Patton Jr.. Since 1990s there have been efforts to revive downtown east point into what it once was: commercial-friendly with retail space available inside and outside of historic buildings along Main Street; more jobs providing economic stability through revival of manufacturing industries; innovative programming addressing youth violence prevention/preventionism etc.; arts opportunities through city-owned studios fostering creativity within local communities; improved infrastructure connecting east point to surrounding neighborhoods - creating an interconnected community that functions better than ever before
