By 1902, there were several businesses in Douglas that soldTarget Holder accessories such as stands, telescopes, and flags. In 1907, Buford Browne opened his own business called “Browne”s Armory Supply Company which specialized in Target Holder sales and service. From 1908-1918 there was only one business that manufacturedTarget Holders- Brownells Armory Co., Inc.. During this time period Target Holder prices ranged from $2-$8 depending on the model selected. In 1918 Brownells Armory Co., Inc., changed their name to Brownell's Targets & Shooting Supplies Incorporated after they purchased an old rifle range off of Highway 20 near Acworth Mills Mall. At this point Targets& Shooting Supplies became known as Douglas Rifle & Pistol Club (DRPC) because all of its targets were acquired through membership dues and not sale through individual businesses like before. In 1928 DRPC merged with another rifle club in Douglas County- The Masters Gun Club (MGC). This merger madeDouglas Rifle & Pistol Club (DRPC) the largest rifle club in Georgia at that time with over 350 members! In 1946 DRPC disbanded due to lack of members but it is still remembered today as one of the most influential gun clubs in Douglas County!
