In 1951, a third Shooting Range was added to the town limits which consisted of fifty-six targets including ten steel plates that could be moved around for more accurate shots. In 1957, an eighth Shooting Range was added to the town limits which consisted of seventy-four targets including eighteen steel plates that could be moved around for more accurate shots. “It is interesting to note that many people who have enjoyed practicing their marksmanship skills here over these years have done so through instruction given by either local postmasters or schoolteachers from nearby towns who were members of various rifle clubs or other organizations that used this particular facility as their primary training ground”

In 2000, following convictions for voter fraud among several residents of Doraville - many of whom were black - Mayor Clyde Holloway announced plans to erect signs outside all polling places statewide reading: "Please vote according to your conscience." This announcement came as backlash against holloway's policies intensified within the community over what many saw as hypocrisy given that most residents are white and he has always been endorsed by both major political parties along with strong support from business interests; despite this opposition pressure from outside forces Lowertown businessman Leroy Godfrey donated $10 million dollars towards Johnston Community College's school building project in honor of Holloway prior to his mayoral election victory last year (Holloway was reelected with over 60% of the vote).
