However, there are still some businesses that have been around for many years such as Benny's Pancake House which has been around since 1939; Ruby’s Bakery which started out as a grocery store in 1951; Thalia’s Greek restaurant which opened its doors in 1957; and Gussie’s Grocery which opened its doors on November 15th, 1959. Despite these setbacks, there are still many people who live in or visit Doraville because it is a small town with friendly people and an interesting history that everyone should experience at least once!

In 1825, John opened what is now known as the Doraville Inn & Tavern, which served as a meeting place for local farmers and businessmen. The establishment served as a major source of income for John until his death in 1857. His grandson John Dormer continued the business until 1906. At that time, it was purchased by Mr. Fenton who operated it until his death in 1946. After Mr. Fenton's passing, control of the inn passed briefly through several hands before being sold to Mrs. Capps who ran it until her death in 1964. It then passed through several more owners before being acquired by Mr., Driscoll family who operate it currently (1997). John Dormer established Doraville as a popular tourist destination due to its natural resources and historical landmarks such as The Black Canyon Bridge which spans over Lookout Mountain near where today's village stands . By 1830, visitors could see evidence of human activity at The Black Canyon Bridge including prehistoric arrowheads found at depths up to 100 feet! In addition to its landmark status, The Black Canyon Bridge also played an important role during World War II when military forces used it as communication link between Lookout Mountain and Fort Benning on account of its height! In 1936-1937, work began on creating Interstate 85 through portions of Georgia which would eventually connect Atlanta with Savannah . When I-85 was completed eight years later , Doraville had become one of its most directly connected communities within Georgia! In fact , many people still visit The Black Canyon Bridge today not just because there are tourism attractions nearby but also because OF THE INTERSTATE 85 CONNECTION IT PLAYED A MAJOR ROLE IN ADDITION TO ITS HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE ! Finally , let us not forget about Mrs . Capps whose Ownership & Management Of TheBlackCanyonBridgeInDoraville Still Remain One Of My Favorite Things To Do In Town !!
