Over time, other families also came to live there including those of Nicholas Hargrave and Josephine Miller who both played important roles in the development of the town. John Doraville died in 1823 leaving behind an estate valued at £2 million ($4 billion). His legacy lives on through his daughter Mary Jane Hardwick who was appointed by President Franklin D Roosevelt as director of Recreation for Fulton County after her father's death in 1944. Today, Mary Jane continues her parents' work by developing new programs that promote physical activity and cultural diversity within Fulton County communities across five counties including Atlanta - one of which is located just outside of Doraville itself!
