The town grew quickly and by 1824, it had a population of 350 people. By 1850, the population had grown to 1,000 people. In 1875, the town boasted an educational institution which became known as “The Doraville School”. Doraville was designated as a city in 1907 and soon began to grow rapidly. It soon became one of the most important cities in Georgia. It hosted many major events such as the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1964 and 1996. In recent years, it has undergone several renovations which have made it again one of the most vibrant cities in all of Georgia.
