Unfortunately for these volunteer defenders against well fed professional Confederate forces who could fire through any crack in those defenses; only 6 men out of 2200 total Riflemen died during Battle Of Powder Springs which took place on April 14th 1865(see Figure 2).Although rifle stocks remained common throughout much of Reconstruction they eventually declined following Reconstruction which ended alongside slavery across most southern states (seeFigure 3).
