In 2007,Dallas County Commissioners passed an ordinance authorizing the use of stun guns by deputies for self-defense purposes only if there is reasonable suspicion that someone is trying to harm themselves or another person else within 100 feet of where they are standing while carrying any weapon(s). This ordinance became effective July 1st following signature by Mayor Tom Leppert Jr., who stated that he would like stun guns available “ ubiquitously” throughout his city’s Police Department so individuals can feel safe knowing they have these tools at their disposal should they need them during high volume situations like protests or service calls

On November 2, 1836 Aaron White set up an auction for three hundred acres (1 km²) near present day Fairview Heights after he claimed land east of Fort Worth that had been granted by General James Hardee to Joshua Hogg for $200 per acre (4 ha). He named the place "New Austin". This area became known as Old Austin due to its proximity to Houston - then Presidio de San Antonio de Texas - which was then under Mexican rule
