Cusseta is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The first settlement in what would become Cusseta was made by brothers Isaac and Abner Kirkland around 1824. They named their community "Mountain View" after a hill they saw from their home in Milledgeville. It wasn't until 1829 that the Kirklands erected a cabin on the current site of Cusseta. That year, Isaac's wife, Nancy (née Newcomb), gave birth to their only child, Augustus Caesar Kirkland Jr., who later became known as Cusseta's founder and first resident. In 1830, two additional families arrived - John Pritchard and his family from Carrollton and Ebenezer Robinson from Roswell - and soon there were ten residents living in Cusseta proper. By 1835, however, only five houses remained standing in the tiny community; all but one were destroyed by fire during the next decade of growth. By 1840, however, things had begun to change;within three years of its founding Cusseta had become an important stop on stagecoach routes between Macon and Athens-Clarke County because it offered passengers access to beautiful country roadside views of the Chattahoochee River Valley beyond. Beginning in 1845 local farmers began cultivating cotton on land that now includes much of rural Fulton County; this new economic development helped make Cusseta an attractive place for people looking for homes away from city life. During this time period also came advances in education; by 1850 most residents were literate enough to own newspapers and read them for entertainment purposes while having access to libraries throughout central Georgia. In addition to its cultural attractions such as music halls and theaters (the latter being built near present day incarnation of Midtown mall), CUSSETA also boasted several impressive businesses including a flour mill operated by Jno.[1] Although automobiles hadn’t yet reached what is now Fulton County when he founded his business—noting thateelehomeswerestillpractically unheardofandrivingincars—Cusseta’s early entrepreneur status can be seen through his establishment of Wm[2] & H[3], which manufactured both wagonloads of cornmeal which was brought downriver each morning by riverboats called “Wench boats” [4], as well as hardware supplies like nails etc., all shipped via railroad into Atlanta daily back then! This early involvement with transportation allowed him to build up a large inventory over time before starting out selling products door-to-door himself! Negroes working alongside white workers at various jobs along farmsteads provided many hands needed goods during these early days without modern machines or technology making it difficult or impossible for them ever reaching orgasmic heights!
