Their submission, known as the "Browning-Bolt action", featured a revolver grip with an integral barrel choke. Covington is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. Covington is one of two towns in Fulton County that are not part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. It is located on the east side of I-75, about 12 miles (19 km) south of downtown Atlanta. The land that now makes up Covington was first settled by European Americans in 1795. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson moved his army from New Orleans to attack Chattanooga and began the Battle of Covington Hill. General Hood's division advanced northward from Chattanooga to support Jackson as he attacked the Union forces under General John Southerland near Covington Creek. In 1821, General Nathan Bedford Forrest founded what became known as Forrest Park on what would become today's north side of Main Street in Covington. After several years of development, Forrest park was renamed for James Hogg – one of his generals during the American Civil War – in 1874. The village center around Main Street and Market Place dates back to 1834 when developers built a public square and four stores on what is now First Avenue North and Second Streets NE within a half-mile (800 m) radius of each other. By 1840 there were five stores and three public buildings including the courthouse which served as an appellate court until it burned down in 1861 during secession proceedings; all but one building survive to this day except for the Courthouse Annex which was razed in 1968 after being condemned as structurally deficient by federal officials however portions have been rebuilt multiple times over). The first post office opened at 8th & Main streets NW on October 21st, 1840; mail was carried via stagecoach into nearby Decatur until railroads arrived three years later service ended with the opening of interstate highways so residents had to drive their mail directly into Atlanta or take buses or trains to Atlanta destinations like Marietta or Roswell where they could pick up their mail again before driving back home along Interstate 95/75 enroute to their homes).
