Conyers is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Conyers were Frenchmen in 1795 and they called it "Conyers". In 1802, General Andrew Jackson married Miss Frances Conyers here. The town was platted in 1807 by John Covington and James McMillin. The name of the first post office was "Conyers", but the present one was built in 1839 by George Washington Carver. In 1860, cotton plantations were abandoned in this area due to disease; however, new plantations began upriver near Decaturville, Alabama following that year's American Civil War. By 1865 there were over 5500 slaves working in cotton fields within a radius of Conyers of any point west of Interstate 85; however most had been freed since that time. A Presbyterian church was built on what is now downtown Conyers around 1830; after several years it burned down and again from an accidental fire which destroyed much valuable property including some slave quarters A Methodist church also stood for many years before being torn down about 1840-45 when Methodists decided not to move their operations into areas with then high white population densities as did Baptists who had done so successfully elsewhere. In 1851-2 a schoolhouse (dedicated May 3rd) stood on what is now Elmwood Avenue SW corner with Pine Street; this building served for many years as the only public school within range until a new one was erected just east of downtownConyers circa 1951-1960s on lot donated by Mrs. Ethel Mae Whitehill City Councilmember When Gwinnett County set out to annex portions of Floyd County (including parts of modern day Cobb County) during the late1950s much discussion ensued as to where “Gwinnett” should establish its own civic center or library—a decision ultimately postponed because no agreement could be reached between Gwinnett officials and those from Floyd over site location and design issues faced therein ebb and flow through annexation process until 1965 when both Gwinnett County authorities amd residents backed off support for separate countywide Civic Center/Library build project fearing possible conflict ensuing if such facility became funded & opened independently without prior approvals from other agencies involved thru intergovernmental dialogues over time—resulting finally in joint funding agency development plan currently under construction comprising facilities & associated programming eventually slated for ribbon cutting event scheduled for Fall 2020

In 2001, the United States Congress passed a bill Amendments to the National Firearms Act which made it illegal to possess or use electric shock devices without a license. This law also limits taser possession and use to Law Enforcement Officers who are expressly authorized by their agency to carry them in their officer uniforms.
In 1984, the Canadian government introduced tasers as a new form of policing. Tasers were first used in Toronto in 1979 and were used more commonly until they were banned in 2003.
Conyers is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,868 at the 2010 census. It lies on the banks of the Chattahoochee River and is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. It was founded in 1837 by Major General James Conyers as a fur trading post on what is now known as Old Conyers Road. In 1842, Conyers became one of the first communities in America to be organized under a congressional act passed to encourage settlement of new territory. The community grew rapidly during Reconstruction and soon came to be known for its prosperous cotton plantations and manufacturing plants that produced goods such as shoes, radios, cars and appliances. However, during the 1960s and 1970s, much of Conyers' industrial base began to fade away as production shifted from industry to service jobs in elsewhere within Fulton County or outside Georgia. The town's only remaining textile plant closed down in 2006. Despite this loss, Conyer has continued to experience significant economic growth over recent years due to its location within close proximity of Atlanta and its rich cultural heritage which includes many famous residents including author Harper Lee and basketball coach Rick Majerus
In 1802, Conyers was named in honor of Congressman John Conyers (1784-1851), one of the first Georgia delegates to the United States Congress. In 1868, Conyers was renamed in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The city has since been a center for civil rights and political activism.
