In 1916, construction began on the nearby Peachtree Road Bridge which linked Conyers with Marietta and other northwest cities. In 1928, new housing developments were built along both Peachtree Road and Grand Boulevard which formed the nucleus of what is now known as Midtown Conyers. Railroads served as an important factor in developing this area with railroads being instrumental in bringing goods into and out of Atlanta during prohibition times; some remaining trains still run into today's station yards near downtown Conyers! In 1940, after World War II ended, many surplus military barracks were used as homes for soldiers returning home from overseas service including those living within walking distance of Selma Avenue/US Airways Field northcenter Airport serving Montgomery County - one such barracks remains today known as US Army Garrison #2 (SOOF) located off MLK Drive between Ponce de Leon Ave./University Blvd./Selma Ave., just minutes away from I-285 exit 20B/Newnan Rd., east side Street address). This corridor became routable following purchase by MARTA who turned it into their permanent transit line service using much older underutilized tracks adjacent to Interstate 285 southbound interchange EB Rwy & Old Third St./I-285 exit 20A Alumni Dr.- connectingconveniently across old Vinings Mill Rd.–conveniently close to Hartsfield–Jackson airport rapid bus stop) adding even more convenience! Eventually GSRTP will also continue thru old Vinings Mill Rd.–just beyond present day Hartsfield–Jackson airport rapid bus stop onto current Gwinnett Parkway map
