This property became known as Pugh's Grant after him. On July 15th of that same year Abert sold his interest to Troup County commissioners who then hired Elisha Cook to plat out Lots 1-3 . Cook subdivided this lot into 12 lots each measuring about 1800 sq feet (150 m²). These lots became known as "Cook's Farm" after him; later developed into Macon City Cemetery today." In 1865 when Cobb County was created it included parts of Troup County so there must have been some connection between these two counties though no evidence exists to support this claim." In 1811 Colonel Thaddeus Stevens purchased land west of present dayconyers from General James Wilkinson for $5 per acre (the price then doubled every two years).
