In Conyers, Georgia, some of the first gun sights were put in place on government buildings back in 1836. Conyers, Georgia is a small town in the state of Georgia. It was founded in 1802 by General Josiah Conyers and his wife Abigail. The town was named after Conyers' brother-in-law, Ezekiel Price. In 1903, Conyers became the first city in Georgia to be incorporated. The city has been served by the same mayor since 1906. As of 2018, it had a population of around 508 people. Conyers is located on the Flint River about 15 miles northeast of Atlanta. It is bordered by Roswell to the east, Marietta to the north, Sandy Springs to the west, and Dunwoody to the south. The river forms a natural border between Conyers and Roswell Township which is also located on Flint River. The original homes in Conyers were built as log cabins or simple frame buildings without attached eaves or chimneys because there were no schools or other public services available at that time for residents within reach of downtown Atlanta. By 1882, when General Josiah Conyer moved his family from Nassau County, New York back into his native Georgia after serving in Chief Washington's army during the American Revolution, he had built a home hereabouts with additions over time including two brick churches (1892) – one Methodist and one Presbyterian – as well as several other large structures such as an opera house (1924), courthouse (1925), post office (1926), jail (1927), schoolhouse (1882; now used as a museum) and Masonic Lodge No. 2 building completed in 1924). The railroad arrived just prior to World War II when American bombers bombedconverted warehouses near downtown Atlanta killing many workers who were employed therein; this prompted some local business owners/ownersmen to build new residential dwellings closer unto their businesses so that they would not have their property taken away during wartime raids but all such endeavors failed due primarily to lack of funding and interest from either government officials or developers themselves once hostilities began - something that did not happen again until more recently with regards to development near Downtown Atlanta proper! Conyers was founded in 1802 by Colonel John Conyers. It became a town in 1821, and then a city in 1887. The area now known as Conyers was first settled by the Cherokee people.
