After years of hard work and dedication, Nicholson had finally achieved his goal of building a large Presbyterian Church within commuting distance for his congregation in Atlanta. The University of Georgia was founded in 1881 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Georgia. It was renamed the University of Georgia in 1892, after General James H. The university opened its doors to women in 1972 following passage of the Women's Rights Amendment to the Constitution of Georgia that year. In 2008, UGA hosted Super Bowl XLIV which featured the Indianapolis Colts vs Baltimore Ravens football game.
