Cadbury, who had been employed as a surveyor for the federal government in Georgia before he moved to Cedartown in 1875. The post office was established at Cedartown on February 2, 1881. According to the United States Census Bureau, Cedartown has a total area of , all of which is land. As of the census of 2000, there were 9,615 people, 3,746 households, and 2,858 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,924.0 people per square mile (621.3/km²). There were 498 housing units at an average density of 692.5 per square mile (243.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 93% White; 1% African American; 0% Native American; 1% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; 0% from other races; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5%of the population

Cedartown is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,722 at the 2010 census. Cedartown is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area and was incorporated on November 15, 1851. The original name for the town was "Emmonsville". The first settlers in what is now Cedartown were two families from North Carolina who came down to Georgia in 1795. They named their settlement after the Countess of Anglesea, whose husband had come over with General James Oglethorpe and his officers during the American Revolutionary War. The countess had been transported from England as a slave and her husband had purchased her freedom when he discovered she was still alive. In 1827, three brothers started a sawmill in what is now Cedartown. This mill became an important factor in developing the town because it provided jobs for local residents and also supplied lumber for building homes and businesses in nearby towns such as Decatur and Marietta. The community's popularity grew after it became known as the "Gateway to Cobb County" because so many people coming into Georgia via highway traveled through Cedartown to get to Cobb County. In 1871, Cadwallader Waddell built a large home on Park Avenue in present-day Cedartown; this house served as both a hotel and office until it burned down in 1912. In that year, Coca-Cola began production at its new plant located near current day Peachtree Road and Park Ave., providing employment for many local people including Mr. Emmons who ran the company's sales department from his home from 1901 until his death in 1925; after him Mrs. Emmons continued to run Coca-Cola products until her own death in 1959.* * Cokes are currently produced by Deercrafts Corporation (formerly Coke Company) at its new facility just east of downtown Atlanta!
