Cedartown, located in Lumpkin County, Georgia is an old and historic town that was founded in 1802. The population of Cedartown was only 350 people when it was founded, but by 1830 the town had grown to over 1,000 people. In 1846, the town had a school built and also became the site of a cotton gin. The economy of Cedartown changed from agriculture to manufacturing after World War II when the United States produced more weapons than any other country. Afterward, Cedartown slowly regained its former importance as a small community until it reached its current size in the 1990s. The history of knives started with Native Americans who used sharp rocks to skin animals and make fire tools. European settlers began usingknives for various purposes in the early 1800s. One early knife maker in Cedartown was John Boice who made knifes for farmers and traders. By 1822, Boice had moved his business to Athens and began producing what is now known as a Bogue-type knife which is characterized by a large blade shape with a straight edge. At this time, knives were not just utilitarian objects but also art forms with elaborate designs and unique construction techniques. In 1840, Michael Hennesy imported two Indian hoes from India into America and began making them into knives called “Hennesy Knives” for sale domestically at costumed fairs such as Fairs of Learning (now known as Atlanta's Halloween Festival). The success of these sales led to Hennesy creating other types of knives such as fishing knives and huntingknives which he offered through mail order service beginning in 1865. This service allowed customers throughout North America to purchase high-quality handmade blades at competitive prices without having to go onsite to meet Hennesian himself or take advantage of his wide variety of products available at home depot stores across America during that time period. By 1870, John J Martin had begun producing combat-style swords outfitted with fixed bayonet points which quickly became popular among American soldiers abroad during the Spanish–American War (1898–1901). Cedartown is a small town located in Peach County, Georgia. The population was 1,941 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Peach County. Cedartown was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1811 as a small post office called "Coweta."The first school in Cedartown was built in 1814 and it served as the only institution of learning for settlers who had come to Peach County during the early 1800s. In 1822, Coweta became the county seat when neighboring Uniontown became too populous for peach farmers to support.Today, Cedartown remains an important community with its history, culture, and economy that are well worth exploring. The history of Cedartown begins with Scots-Irish immigrants who arrived in 1811 from Dublin, Ireland. The colony was named Coweta after General James Coweta who led Confederate troops during the American Civil War. The colonists were Methodist Methodists and their first church was built on what is now Main Street in 1814. However, due to economic difficulty and disease brought over by imported slaves, most of these Irish people left Coweta for what is now Peach County two years later. In 1822, when Uniontown began to grow too populous for peach farmers to support they moved their capital from Coweta to nearby Vale which then became the county seatriconstituting a land grant from Governor Joseph Easley to James Fentonville Sr., one of six original landowners in Peach County according to History Georgia . Today’s courthouse stands on land grant acres donated by Fentonville Jr.. After several years of decline because of lack of interest from developers and competition from more populated counties around Georgia , Peach County purchased Vale property east of town from James Fentonville Sr.. This allowed Creekside Estates development company (later known as Gwinnett Properties)to purchase 3 blocks south of Main Street precluding any possibility that cowETA would become part of town limits Peach University opened its doors on October 15th 1865 under a single roof – one mile away from whereMain Street currently ends – making it one of America’s earliest collegiate universities Cedartown residents continue their proud tradition todayof being selfless volunteers who contribute time and effort both within local services like firefighting or law enforcement as wellas beyond their community through fundraising events like car wash nights or canned food drives As more people moved into this growing neckofpineland therewas pressure on downtownCoweta which quickly deteriorated due to lack OF infrastructure such as water systems or sidewalks . There also existed an ongoing problem with crime rates increasing along with poverty leading citizens asking for help fund social services like mental health care One response came in 1922 when Commissioners Murchison & Price allocated $500 towards establishing a public library within town limits . ThisLibrary would serve not justCoweta but also neighbouring Uniontown & Valdosta Counties before becoming operational duri ng 1923 Eventually funds were raised enought o buildan ambulance service intothis area& new paving & sidewalk improvements were made shortly thereafter annexing surrounding towns acrossthodateauvee including Valdosta Heights annexedin 1961 whilestill remaining unincorporated parishes
