Cedartown is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Cedartown is one of the most important gun magazines in America. The first gun magazine in America was established in 1794 by George Washington and it published "The Artillerist". In 1829, John Jacob Astor founded "Astoria" magazine which became an influential publication for reloaders and hunters. In 1903, Henry Hargrave organized "Hargrave's Rifle Magazine" as a publishing house with headquarters at 222 Main Street in downtown Cedartown. Hargrave had been editor-in-chief of "The New York Times" since 1899 and he donated $10,000 to found the magazine. At its height, Hargrave's Rifle Magazine published over 100 issues per year. In 1977–1978, it moved from 222 Main Street to 6th Floor of The Georgian on Peachtree Road in Midtown Atlanta due to complaints from editorial staff about continued noise and pollution coming from nearby MARTA trains. In 1984–1985, GEO Group leased the building where Hargrave's Rifle Magazine now resides from publisher Julius Schwartz for use as their corporate headquarters for magazines such as "GEO mag", "Bravo", and "Gun Illustrated". Additionally, GEO also leased other office space within the building including a laboratory used for manufacturing ammunition products. On October 12th 1998 two gunmen opened fire inside GEO mag's corporate headquarters killing three people before shooting themselves dead during a shoot out with police outside the building moments after entering through an unlocked gate

In 1840, Fenton's daughter married John Waddel who donated land for a school in Cedartown. The first school building was built on what is now Elm Street. In 1881, the post office moved from within Cedartown to its present location on Commerce Boulevard. In 1925, Don Easley opened what is now known as "The Old World Warehouse" as the first general store in Cedartown. This grocery business served local farmers and consumers until it closed in 1984 due to economic sanctions against South Korea during that time period

Cedartown is a small town in north Georgia, United States. The population was 198 at the 2010 census. Cedartown's history can be traced back to 1811 when it was founded by farmers named Caldwell and Fraser. The town name derived from a Cherokee word meaning "the place where the cedar trees grow." In 1868, the US Post Office moved from downtown Atlanta to what is now Cedartown. The first store in Cedartown opened its door on December 15, 1868. At that time, there were only two homes in the town and no roads or businesses. In 1910, the cotton gin plant was built in Cedartown and began producing cotton cloth for local dealers. In 1916, Cedarta paper mill was built which became one of the largest paper mills in Georgia until it closed its doors in 1984.During World War II, Cedarta served as an airfield for American bombers raids against Nazi Germany. After World War II ended, many factories closed down and Cedarta slowly started to decline until it saw a revival beginning around 2000 with new investments including a new library and park complex as well as various housing developments and retail stores coming online.Today, much of what once made up Coffey Plaza (now known as Pioneer High School) still remains vacant however much has been done to improve life within the community such as having more than 50% of residents being employed or working outside of their home property since 2010
