Cadartstown grew slowly until it became an agricultural community with over 100 residents by 1930. However, during World War II many local farmers participated in production of munitions and other war materials due to its strategic location on I-95 just east of Atlanta; this made Cedartown an important center for two successive years during the war as businesses turned to production while military facilities were built nearby. A post office was established at Cedartown in 1915, but it closed six years later because of low mail volume. The present day USPS building opened in 1963 and has since served as both a primary school and courthouse for Cedartown Township; however, most services latest annexation by Valdosta County effective January 1st 2013 have been moved to Valdosta City Hall which is also located within walking distance from all core services available within the township including government buildings such as courtrooms and jails CedARTOWN: Today’s Town - Yesterday’s Agricultural Community In 1931 progress stalled when development proposals for what would become downtown Downtown included plans for apartments housing about 600 people – less than one percent of all proposals citywide that year!
