After several years of construction work and many trials and errors, Macon’s colony finally arrived at its destination in late 1821/early 22d – consisting of about 50 men includingMacon himself plus 3 Indians! With such high stakes at stake both politically and economically – there were few if any willing to give up their newly acquired land without a fight! Despite initial difficulties caused by lack of transportation or food supplies – especially given that most folks living near Georgia ‘were either farmers or fishermen; not traders like ourselves’4 – over time Cartersville slowly emerged as one of the most important towns located within Georgian County due to its key geographical position: close by both Rivers Oconee & Nepean with easy access to markets & transportation hubs alike; as well as being home to some very wealthy landowners who had invested heavily in fur farming & cattle production respectively3! And so despite occasional setbacks (e.g., floods), Overhead Repeater Station continued providing critical communications between Atlanta (& surrounding areas) & northern plantation owners until 1893 when wires were laid across Union Bridge upstream (& linking Richmond thru Lynchburg). At this point primarily cotton mills began operating along I-85 / US Hwy 421 interchange making Chatham County one large agricultural region5!6

In 1822, an act to give land to the Creek Indians in what would become Cartersville passed the Georgia General Assembly but it never came into effect because Indian Removal began two years later. At first, most people in what would become Cartersville were farmers or small traders who did not have much money to spend on imports or exports so they didn’t get involved in what was happening with Cherokee Nation. However over time some people started development here and by 1830 there were several houses and a few stores functioning here. By 1840 however, there were only a few homes left and most people had moved away because of new technology being developed then called railroad travel which made life much easier for those living near transportation hubs like Atlanta or Chattanooga. Eventually things changed again with the American Civil War that effectively ended slavery in America so many people from across southern states relocated northward including many from Alabama who founded Decatur (now Huntsville) as their new home as cotton plantations grew more important during this time period as well as increased demand for labor around Atlanta due to industrialization throughout southeast America. Ultimately, northern forces pushed southward during the war which resulted in what are now known as Cartersville hills becoming part of Atlanta while downtown remained within Cherokee Nation boundaries until white flight began following World War II whenAtlanta annexed parts of nearby Stone Mountain
